Vrginers cooperates with Lockheed Martin to develop VR / MR pilot training system

Vrginers, a provider of VR / MR pilot training system, recently announced that it has developed the next generation of VR / MR pilot training system. The solution includes the latest version of vrginers XTAL 3 VR / MR head display and Lockheed Martin’s prepar3d visual simulation platform.

It is understood that vrginers XTAL equipment is equipped with 180 ° FOV composed of two 4K resolution displays. According to the company, its new training system marks the first integration of physical cockpit simulator with ultra wide FOV VR head display to provide immersive 1:1 simulation.

Vrginers said that Lockheed Martin’s prepar3d version 5 now supports its XTAL 3 hybrid reality technology out of the box. The combination of the technologies of the two companies can provide realistic tactile feedback, thanks to the function of the technology that allows users to see their hands and interact with the physical dashboard, which is also provided by vrginers. It is reported that the training platform is specially designed for F-15, F-16 and F-35 fighters and is now being launched for other modern aircraft. Vrginers added that XTAL 3’s advanced hybrid reality capabilities enable the device to be used by pison technology as the core head display and hybrid reality solution of two different SBIR phase II R & D contracts, which jointly seek to develop advanced manned flight simulation technology simulators, funded by afwerx, for the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy.

Vrginers said that due to joint efforts, existing prepar3d users will experience a seamless transition when switching from data projectors or display based simulators to XTAL based systems.
