The US Government's Inconsistent View On Science

With the Coronavirus disease spreading rapidly around the country, the United States government has been very adamant about its citizens putting their full trust in “the science.” The United States’ current President Joe Biden ran on this very idea and touted the former President for not. What resulted after Biden won was government-mandated lockdowns, vaccines, and booster-shots for said vaccines. Whether you agree or disagree with these actions or not, one could not ignore the government’s trust in the field of science! However, they are inconsistent with their views in science, namely the social science of economics. It is no secret now, that the monetary value of the U.S. dollar is inflating, and the U.S. government had been attempting to keep this secret for years. This attempt was, and still is, being carried out by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics(BLS) though the utilization of an outdated and skewed collection method for calculating the consumer price index(CPI). “Why might the U.S. Government be interested in deceiving its people?” you might be thinking. There are many reasons for this deception, but the biggest reason to me is panic. If it was common knowledge of how bad the inflation rate was for the U.S. dollar, it would cause many panic-induced issues. These issues would mostly reside with international and domestic investors using the U.S. dollar, which is the last thing the U.S. government wants. For those that do want to know the truth, a company by the name of “Truflation” exists solely to expose the actual inflation rate of the U.S. dollar through a custom index they developed from the ground up. Unlike the collection methods and sources used by the BLS, Truflation presents both of these explicitly and even gives insight of how their inflation rate calculation works. Until the U.S. government decides to update their calculations, I and many others will be using Truflation to see the real inflation rate of the U.S. dollar.
