Welcome! My name is Justin Holmes, and I am a senior at Duke University studying Computer Science and Economics.

Today, whether it be in my classes, talking with friends, or just reading headlines, it is nearly impossible to escape the mention of “Web3,” “NFTs,” or “DAOs.” Unfortunately, I have very little knowledge about the concepts behind any of these buzzwords. After months of sitting blank-faced as my friends talked about (and, perhaps even more motivating, made money from) this technology, I have decided it is time for me to learn about the future of the Internet, what exactly the blockchain is, and how these tools will help define my career and the careers of many others in the near future.

I believe one of the key components of optimized learning is knowing that others have been in your shoes and reached the other side of understanding. I hope to use this space as a place to share resources, updates, and knowledge as I continue on my journey toward understanding Web3. I do not expect to become an expert in the near future, and I will not pretend to be one. Rather, I would like this series to highlight my journey and, if done well, provide a path to learn Web3 for anyone who feels stuck as I do now. I hope you decide to follow my adventure and take the time to learn with me.
