I think it is fair to say that most people in crypto assumed that Synthetix was dead. From mid-2023 to the end of 2024, two very long years, the project languished. It was run by a committee and was optimising for all of the wrong things. But in late 2024, we began to reassemble a team to finish the job that we started. A job that began in 2020 with the publishing of SIP-80 Decentralized Futures.

This will test whether I am right. That said, Mafiosos gotta feed their families, or at least deliver them cigarettes, so we have made concessions to CT via Craterun. It is almost time for the Infinex TGE.

When we designed Infinex governance in 2023, we started from first principles and tried to avoid the mistakes of early DeFi governance. Unfortunately, we started from the false premise that Infinex was a protocol. It turns out it's not a protocol. Infinex is an Application.

Bullrun was a game concept I created on my way to EthCC in 2024. This was pre-vibe coding, so I had to "enlist" a number of the Infinex team to build the game. The concept was that people play a hand of crypto poker by selecting five cards from the top 50 tokens on CoinGecko. I had planned for the cards to be minted as NFTs, but unfortunately, we never got around to it (yet). Each day, the hand that had the highest score, based on daily price movements of the underlying asset, wins.

After many years of futile meming, the revenue meta has broken out. We can thank Hyperliquid for this. In 2021, a few DeFi enjoyoooors tried to meme the “real revenue” meta into existence, but outside a handful of projects, onchain activity and revenue were insufficient for this new meta to be sustainable.
