In this case, I'd say 100% yes.
And it's not because I'm a great writer (I'm not) or devilishly good looking (also not), it's because web3 is the single biggest wave that you will ever surf in your lifetime.
What's the sum of the total addressable markets for gaming + metaverse + financial services + media + music + software? (Jamie, look that up for me, will you?)
It's humungous.
Web3 is going to significantly impact all of those industries in a massive way. That's why so much of the top talent from investment banking, consulting and big tech is chomping at the bit to make 75% 40% less money for the chance to put their surf board in the water and paddle.
My main gig is building Sunday:Drip, a first-of-its-kind, member-owned lifestyle brand. Our goal is to build our authentic version of what Lululemon, Kith or Madhappy might have looked like if they were born in the web3 era leveraging things like tokens, NFTs and blockchains to enable members/designers/contributors to own and influence the brand. We’re aiming for a New York meets SoCal vibe.
Because of this, I live at the intersection of culture <> web3 and consume about 8-10 hours of related content daily.
Lately, more and more of my friends have turned to me as a source of truth for web3 guidance...a secret weapon to help them cut through the noise and focus only what matters.
For the few friends that did listen to me throughout 2021, I've made them hundreds of thousands of dollars [and none of them lost money]. Not financial advice!
They've mostly been asking me two things:
What moves am I making and why am I making them?
What is going on with Sunday:Drip and how can they get involved?
So this newsletter is my little sandbox on the internet, where I can share with you what I'd share with them.
I plan to post almost daily. If I don't have something impactful to say, I'm not going to waste your time. When I do post, it will be because I think there's information that you're going to want to know or ideas that may get your wheels spinning.
Content in the newsletter will be split up roughly into two main sections, thinking and building.
In the thinking section, I'll cover things like:
Overarching themes I'm seeing in web3 and why they matter
Predictions for what I think will happen in given scenarios
Moves/trades I'm making and why I'm making them
Moves/trades I missed and why I'm fomoing about it
In the building section, I'll spend time "building in public" for Sunday:Drip. This will cover things like:
Progress and updates on big initiatives
Strategy around community building, growth, tokenomics, etc.
Updates of what is/isn't working
Ideas from the community for tooling that should exist
I'm going to do my best to keep things short and cut out the fluff.
If you like the way I think about things, you'd probably like our Sunday:Drip podcast, Cryptoland. We cover 3-5 topics per episode but go a little bit more in depth and sometimes interview other founders of emerging crypto projects.
