For novices, many parts of the camera need to be explained before they can understand. Today I’ll introduce some knowledge of focusing system. Many people will first see the words AF-S, af-c and MF on the camera. In fact, these three are the options of focusing mode, representing single auto focusing, continuous auto focusing and manual focusing respectively. Then, let’s explain the differences between them.
Let’s talk about MF first. MF stands for manual focusing here, that is, turn off the automatic focusing system of the camera, and the user needs to turn the manual focusing ring of the lens to focus. Now micro single cameras are very intelligent. There will also be auxiliary display or peak focus display when focusing manually. You can still see the specific focus area clearly and intuitively.

Go on to af-s. AF-S stands for single auto focus, that is, when we half press the camera shutter or open the touch shutter to click the screen, the camera only focuses on the focus, focus area or recognized object you selected. If the object moves, it needs to refocus. In our daily photography, except for sports, wild animals and other subjects, we can use AF-S focusing mode.

These are the photos taken in AF-S focusing mode. In this mode, we are suitable for taking photos with static themes, such as natural scenery, urban buildings, static objects, portraits, etc. In a word, the things photographed don’t move. There must be no problem using AF-S mode.
Finally, af-c. Af-c stands for continuous auto focus, that is, when you select the object to focus or the camera automatically recognizes the object to focus, it will continue to track and focus with the object moving until the object moves out of the camera’s viewfinder.

Af-c focus mode is suitable for shooting sports photography, such as children, pets, sports competitions, racing cars, wild animals, birds and so on. Of course, our daily pets and children can also use AF-S mode, but if pets and children are too active during shooting, they can be replaced with af-c focusing mode, which can better capture clear images.
That’s all for the introduction of focusing mode. If you want to know more about photography, you might as well leave a message below, and we will launch relevant articles separately.
