Decentralising the Donation Sector

With the Advent of Blockchain technology to the non profit scene, There has never been the best time to establish a more efficient and transparent way in giving back, especially in this current global turmoil. The Donation sector needs to adapt to modern times and start using new technologies that can help us achieve our goals more efficiently than ever before. One of such technology is called DeFi (short for Decentralised Finance). If you are wondering what it is or why you should care about it, this guide will tell you all about it!

DeFi, short for Decentralised Finance, is the new way of handling your finances without having to rely on Centralised Institutions or other financial Heirachies. The term was first used in a tweet by the founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin.

DeFi is the umbrella term that will encompass several different kinds of projects:

  • DeFi platforms are open-source implementations of smart contract protocols that allow users to contribute resources like disk space or bandwidth as collateral and receive rewards in return. These platforms also provide tools for developers to build applications on top of them (e.g., Compound Protocol).

  • Decentralised lending networks enable borrowers and lenders to meet directly and connect with each other around the world through smart contracts (e.g., Dharma).

DeFi is about using blockchain technology as a backbone for building new financial systems that are open and accessible to everyone.

In this article, we'll explore what DeFi is, How it differs from Traditional Finance, Why it's important for donors to understand the concept of DeFi and its role in the future of the a Donation sector.

Why do We Care about Disrupting the Donation Scene?

The world has changed a lot in the last two decades and so has people’s way of life. With the advent of Disease outbreaks, escalations of war and Natural Disasters spiralling out of control, There is now the need for a “Rebirth” In the ever Growing Donation Sector, Particularly in Developing Countries Starting with Africa. The sector remains plagued with fraud and funds misappropriation, Accessibility of International Contributions has been withdrawn from the Developing Worlds, leaving it in the hands of a few Unvetted NGOs who will rather take advantage of the Murky Complications to Syphon Donations and Cause Untold Hardship to the Already Dire Situation. with the aid of their allegedly registered organisation, Hence the need for a decentralised donation platform. There is a Higher Demand for a Straight foward way to give back to society, DeFi technology has made it possible to create innovative solutions that can improve many aspects of life on Earth and one area where we can make a difference is in this sector.

How can we solve the problem with DeFi?

** **

When it comes to Donation, there are certain questions that are always asked: Where is the money going to? How much of it will be used for administrative costs, and how much will actually be going in to helping people? We all want transparency. But with DeFi, you can get a clearer picture of what’s happening with your donation.

The first step is clarity. When you send money through DeFi, it’s clear where the funds are going, who they’re coming from and where they will eventually end up. You don't have to worry about being scammed because everything is transparently recorded on the blockchain so that anyone can see what's happening in real time. It also means there aren't any unnecessary intermediaries involved in your transactions; this means lower fees overall when compared with traditional payment methods such as wire transfers or credit cards (or even cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin). This combination means that charities can spend less while still receiving maximum impact from their fundraising efforts!

As an additional benefit: because these platforms are decentralised—meaning no single entity controls them like centralised authorities does with its feed algorithm—they're also resistant against taking attempts by powerful entities like governments or corporations looking for control over public discourse around especially around important Governance topics like immigration policy; which makes Our Solution a great place for people who care about social justice issues like immigration reform! And plan to make Contributory support towards their Cause.

The great thing about DeFi is that you don’t need any Middle Man in order to manage your finances. You can open a wallet on any DeFi platform and start Donating to THOSE in need  without having to go through the traditional Financial system.

DeFi Will Remain the next buildable Framework to sustainable Finance especially gearing up with the consistent calamities that spin out of the World on a daily while being able to support and contribute to a new and better world for Everyone.

This was a brief overview of DeFi, as well as its role in the donation sector. I hope you found this information useful and interesting! If you have any questions about DeFi or how it could help your nonprofit organization, please contact me at Newadewale@gmail.com.
