Initiation - Week 1

The first week of ETHIndia Fellowship 3.0 has been a rollercoaster of learning and discovery. I was one of the few applicants selected for this exciting opportunity, and I was eager to start. The program is an 8-week mentor-led program with two parallel tracks, Track Wei and Track Gwei. I was placed in Track Wei, designed for top Web2 developers eager to transition to Web3.

Our first task was to complete the first two challenges from SpeedRun Ethereum, a website that offers hands-on experience for developers to test their skills and gain practical knowledge. The challenges were designed to test our understanding of basic Ethereum concepts, and I was excited to learn.

Challenge 0: 🎟 Simple NFT Example
The first challenge was to create a simple NFT using the OpenZeppelin library. The task was to create a smart contract to mint NFTs and allow users to own and transfer these tokens. I was amazed at how easy it was to develop and deploy an NFT using the OpenZeppelin library, and I was impressed by the comprehensive documentation and support available. This challenge gave me a solid foundation in NFT development and made me understand the importance of standardising these unique contracts, and I was eager to continue exploring its applications.

Challenge 1: 🥩 Decentralized Staking App
The second challenge was to create a decentralized staking application. The task was to create a smart contract allowing users to stake their tokens and receive rewards for their contributions. This challenge was a bit more challenging, but I could complete the task successfully with the help of the discord community of ETHIndia Fellowship 3.0 and the comprehensive documentation.

In addition to the challenges, I learned about NFTs and their various utilities. NFTs have opened up new avenues for digital art and collectables, and I was fascinated by how these unique tokens can be used to store, trade and secure digital assets. I also learned about burner wallets and their significance in development and security. Burner wallets are disposable, one-time-use wallets that allow developers to perform operations without leaving a permanent footprint.

I had the opportunity to view and mint NFTs on the Opensea Testnet and list them on the platform. This hands-on experience allowed me to understand the intricacies of NFT transactions and the process of creating and minting unique tokens. I also learned Solidity's syntax and applications in smart contract development and error handling, which is an essential aspect of smart contract development.

Finally, I deep-dived into the world of Defi (Decentralized Finance) and learned about its various applications and the limitless possibilities it holds for the future. And I am looking forward created a Defi-based project in the upcoming weeks.

In conclusion, I am grateful for this opportunity and am excited to continue learning and growing as a developer over the next seven weeks of the ETHIndia Fellowship. The experience has been amazing, and I look forward to what's in store for me in the coming weeks.
