Sahil Bloom put out a great substack on Frameworks and I totally agree with Play to Learn.
The way we learn has fundamentally changed:
Old Way: Learn to Play
New Way: Play to Learn
Use It When: You are trying to learn about a new mega-trend.
That inspired me to share some things that I have been experimenting with in what is probably the biggest mega-trend out there: #web3. Web3.0 is about to revolutionize how every industry works. This is something that amateurs can participate in and we're still early #wagmi. This is not simply about buying tokens or investing in it. Being early to web3 means actually participating in the ecosystem. You could spend hours reading about what web3 is but why not learn by playing or doing?
Here are 11 steps to get your started on your learning journey!
Setup a crypto wallet Metamask (Chrome extension works well or make the switch to the Brave browser) or CoinBaseWallet. This is the first step as most dApps need to connect to your wallet (no email or personal info registration required!!)
Fund your crypto wallet by sending $ETH to your wallet address (On-ramp FIAT using @coinbase) - beware of the super-high gas fees right now -> learn what gas fees are.
Create your .eth ENS domain (your identity or handle instead of a long 0x ethereum address) @ensdomains. Early adopters of the .eth domain were airdropped ENS tokens this week that were worth thousands of dollars. ENS is for the people which is the the essence of Web3. Take that GoDaddy
Earn to learn web3 (wait what, we didn't get paid to go to school?!?!) by doing tasks/quests on @layer3xyz @rabbitholeGG @gitcoin.co
Buy a #NFT on @opensea (again careful of the high gas fees on ETH). Buy a @BAYC if you are a baller and want to join an awesome community or just check out the different projects (art, real-estate in the Metaverse etc.) available on the platform. A cool project I found was #PandaParadise, which will have a #DAO that purchases and fractionalizes major bluechip NFTs. Holders of the NFT will earn income in the form of $BAMBOO tokens. No NFTs are not just jpegs!
Download Discord and join a community. This could be the town square of Web 3.
Join a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) (great article/writer linked)
Use a decentralized exchange (DEX) to convert your $ETH into another Token by using @uniswap or @pancakeswap
Join #web3 Twitter and follow a few of these smart folks: @cdixon @chriscantino @vitalikbuterin @balajis @punk6529 @packyM
Earn income with #De-Fi by providing liquidity to the market to earn passive income (or borrow against your assets). @aave @compound @traderjoe . There are a lot of different ways to earn income (staking, pooling, lending etc. so do your DD and understand the risks)
Listen to this podcast with Tim Ferris, Chris Dixon, and Naval Ravikant
*BONUS *- Share something interesting that you are working on!
** Remember, given the high gas fees associated with $ETH this will be an expensive learning experience. You could try some of this on a different layer 1 blockchain/token such as $solana. This is not investment advice and you could lose all your fiat/ETH whilst doing the above. There will also be tax consequences in certain situations. If you want to track your portfolio/taxes checkout and signup for Koinly
