The First Step to the XtraVerse

This is my favorite week of the year, that lil bit of downtime between Xmas and New Years. They say you’re supposed to do nothing, melt into the couch. But, after spending the holiday week in quarantine, that just won’t do.

Today is a good day, I made progress, I got something done, I wrote this blog, however you wanna slice it, I got something done.

This coming year, I will be taking on a new role helping to shape the Xtra Verse. What is the XtraVerse you ask? Well here it is, nothing really is something, until you name it. The XtraVerse is the home for what we are building. Decentralized distribution of music and art using the blockchain (: white paper in the works ;)

About 6 months ago, I was holding a record in my hands. Looking at the cover art, and realizing that even though this artist is long gone, here’s is a piece of vinyl that has been circulating around the world since they were on the charts.

Today’s artists don’t always have the money to do a run of vinyl out the gate, but NFTs allow fans to own a unique “Album Cover” for that first single. With their limited editions, these NFT releases provide fans with a way to directly support their favorite artist, while owning a piece of the band’s history.

Just 6 months ago, this all seemed to far off, but now with the launch of web3 portals like the Audius Project, Catalog Works, and Sound XYZ. The path is clear. So whats next? Time to onboard the first artists into the XtraVerse….
