Tiny Bytes: RSA
tldr RSA works by exploiting the fact we can’t easily factor 2 large prime numbers and group theory to make a trapdoor permutation, aka a function that turns x into y but y can’t easily be turned into x without a secret. However, implementing RSA gets tricky because there’s lots of subtle attacks.MathRSA takes advantage of the group Z^*_{n} (multiplicative group of integers modulo n). This is the non-negative integers less than n that have an inverse modulo n. 1 x 1 mod n = 1. 0 x int = 0 so ...

Hi,
A lot of my recent writing have been forced to be quicker. They’re not necessarily bad; however, it’s hard to get what I want out if I start late. Either I need to rush to bed or I put it off until it’s very late.
I need to start writing these earlier.
Besides that I am enjoying the process. It’s fun to do research, reviews, world build, discuss privacy/security, and put my thoughts onto paper. But man, I need to do these earlier in the day to want to spend the time.
I have noticed a few improvements. First, it’s quicker for me to find and write my ideas down. When I have a topic I’m writing about it faster without compromising quality. I’m still finding new ideas as I write and thinking about the topics. It’s helped me feel better about spending less time writing, but I’m curious how it will help when I give myself more time.
Second, I’ve noticed I’m getting a little better at choosing words. At the start, I just needed words so I didn’t think too much about word choice. As I’ve been writing more, I’ve noticed words I tend to repeat or don’t quick describe what I mean. This is the first time I’ve noticed that being picky about word choice improving my ability to think about a topic. The most recent example being the use of monitoring for the sake of privacy. (I really should write about that more this week).
I want to brainstorm some ideas that could help me spend more, quality time writing:
Begin writing earlier in the day - I won’t feel the end of day fatigue
Give myself a reward for writing - If it’s just a chore, there can be less excitement to do it. Especially before bed, I think part of the reason I’m procrastinating it is that it means it’s bed time
Time myself / reflect on the writing - Creating ways to measure writing can help shed light on trends. Plus, I’ve often said “this will be quick” and take more time than expected
Improve my goals - The novelty of writing every day is wearing off a little. Finding other goals can help motivate me
Plan some articles to share with people - Those articles I won’t want to half ass and I’ll need to find time
Preemptively think about the topics - A lot of the excitement comes from wanting to think about a particular topic. It can be more exciting to jump into a topic rather than think about a topic.
Hey look it’s been around 30 minutes. I really do need to give myself time and start writing.
Nighy y’all,
Lucas
