Tiny Bytes: RSA
tldr RSA works by exploiting the fact we can’t easily factor 2 large prime numbers and group theory to make a trapdoor permutation, aka a function that turns x into y but y can’t easily be turned into x without a secret. However, implementing RSA gets tricky because there’s lots of subtle attacks.MathRSA takes advantage of the group Z^*_{n} (multiplicative group of integers modulo n). This is the non-negative integers less than n that have an inverse modulo n. 1 x 1 mod n = 1. 0 x int = 0 so ...

Hi, Did much more writing on RSA. Will finish soon. Bye, Lucas

Hi,
This week has been a good week. I’m really happy with the teasing out of monitoring and story telling. Being able to think through those ideas through writing has been awesome.
It’s also been cool to experience talking to others about those ideas. Get ideas formed out into words. Then talk to others about the ideas I’ve formed out and get other thoughts churning. Those ideas then make their way back into other written words.
A couple take aways from this week:
Monitoring as a framing for privacy
Story telling to tease out thoughts on the degradation of our privacy
Find chances to talk to others about what I’ve written. They don’t need to read it, rather, it helps me to practice getting thoughts out
I need to find ways to write earlier. The last moment of the day counts; however, it is quicker and is capturing other end of the day moments
There are some topics that I liked writing about that I didn’t write about this week (quantum cryptography, world building). In one sense, they’ve evolved. And, if I’m finding topics I am happy writing about, that’s amazing and not something to worry about. I do want to explore those topics more and I’m not sure how best to do that. I definitely think writing earlier in the day gives me more time, which would help for researchy ideas. I also think I’ll need to experiment with how I want to tease out these ideas further. Do I want to write about the same idea for several days and then switch? Do I want to constantly rotate? I’m not sure. For now, I’ll keep those ideas in the back pocket and, if I feel it, I’ll write about them.
I want to write more posts that I want to share with others. I like the exploration and lack of editing. It’d be nice to expand that so I can share ideas more fluidly with others. More time to make me not hate editing can help. Maybe spending time to work through a single topic then condensing it another. I could also try changing the write everyday format
It’s getting easier to explore ideas via writing. I’m finding it faster to type and to think than I did when I started this. It’s much easier to turn off the brain and think. In a way, I’m glad I can type through the same amount of thoughts I used to but quicker. In another way, I feel like I’m cheating and using it to spend less time writing. That could be the way I experiment more with writing while keeping this format. If I spend shorter times everyday (say 20 minutes) writing out in free flow, that may make me feel better about spending longer periods of time on less days getting deeper into ideas.
Glad I’m still writing and I’m improving,
Lucas
