Onchain
Words matter. “The limits of my language means the limits of my world,” Ludwig Wittgenstein famously wrote. This is one of the reasons why I welcome the recent discussion about words to describe end-user use cases and technological developments in the crypto community. Crypto – do we still use that word? (Yes.) https://twitter.com/jessepollak/status/1764742947218858477 Base has recently started using ‘onchain‘ to describe many of the phenomena previously associated with the term 'web3&ap...
Consumer Product Moment
One reason centralized exchanges have flourished is because of the high access barriers today's self-custodial solutions, wallets and hardware security devices, still have. We have seen where this approach has led us. Self-custody software interfaces are still rudimentary, can be confusing and current hardware security devices are clunky, look like USB sticks (which can distort the perception and make it look like the owned assets are actually stored on the device, like a hard drive) and...
Thoughts on Wolf Game
Recently, Wolf Game launched their second mini-game (or pre-game): Cave Game. This is their first 3rd-person-view game, after the previous mini-game Alpha Game was interface-only, where users could stake their NFT assets in one of several Wolf Packs to compete for $WOOL — the game's native currency, which can then can be used to buy digital objects within the game’s internal economy in the yet-to-be released full game. Risk-based NFT Games Wolf Game was a pioneer in combining NFT and DeF...

Began my journey in July with a Hirst Currency... bought in fiat & with my credit card. Bridged it from Palm to Ethereum, a month later sold it for 13.5e. My first eth. And so it began...
Made a web3 Twitter alt to not mingle CT with my regular Twitter activity (which was and still is declining steadily since I joined in 2007).
Got a tip from a friend, minted an NFT for 0.1e and instantly flipped it for 0.7e. Became addicted and thought this is the standard in web3 (had to learn the hard way later: it's not).
Discovered @ArtBlocks_io and collected a lot of pieces by great generative artists such as @thomasp85, @mitchellfchan or @HerdbergJ. The thrill of a dutch auction and finding the perfect moment to mint—that was my summer & early fall. (Unfortunately this was also the time when the hype was massive & I minted a couple of projects which I should not have for that amount of eth.)
Also discovered PFPs and bought a @robotosNFT, @DeadfellazNFT, @cryptomutts, @peacevoid_world / Groupie. (Unfortunately also invested in too many PFP projects which went to zero.)
Bid in an auction on @withFND & bought my first generative 1/1, a work by @philipbell_.
Joined too many Discords with too many @everyone notifications and too little time.
Discovered #tezos and the great art community there, saw HEN go down. Assembled a small collection including works by @zancan and @jjjjjjjjjjohn.
Participated in my first airdrop ($ENS). And had to explain "free internet money" (and why that is not an accurate description) to a number of people.
Became hyped again for generative art after the @fx_hash_ launch. Could collect works by @lennyjpg, @mknol, @deviparikh and @ciphrd (fxhash genesis drop).
Unfortunately missed @zancan's fxhash drop and @MonicaRizzolli's @artblocks_io drop—two of my favorite art projects from H2 of 2021.
And going into 2022? Will still talk more about web3 & NFTs than any other topic. (And I'm very excited for the adoption of P2E mechanics.)
