Pokemon was one of my favorite video games and TV shows growing up. I remember watching the very first episode on a Saturday at 9 AM. From that day, I had all of the games; from Pokemon Yellow to Diamond.
I used to think about how bad I wanted to be a real-life Pokemon trainer. Well, that can't happen for obvious reasons (not yet at least) lol.
My goal with the artwork (s/o to my Fiverr artist, Dios) was to relive some of those nostalgic moments while injecting the culture and music that made me who I am today. I hope to continue working with other visual artists along the way to create new music and visuals together as a black music-producing Pokemon trainer.
It’s my wife’s favorite Pokemon! I randomly asked her one day what her favorite Pokemon was and she told me Vulpix. In everything that I do, I always want to ensure that my wife is a part of the process in some form. She’s a major influence in my life and has truly been there through it all.
Bulbasaur always seemed like a cool Pokemon to me. Once it evolves into Ivysaur, then Venusaur, it’s able to learn this incredibly strong attack “Solarbeam” where it takes up two turns to charge it up. Once it hits, no matter what type of Pokemon you are, you’re gonna take a hit!
