This article intends to cover the past, present, and future of one of the most stylish and unique collections in the NFT space.

Yes, some things went wrong, but stay up to note what’s to come.

Fatales is an all-female 10k NFT collection designed by @lisztmachina that launched into the Cryptoverse in August 2021.

Prompted by a couple of tweets and overall amazing art, it sold out in just 10 minutes, creating a giant gas war, which was basically unheard of at the time.

Considering that many people paid much more than the mint price due to the gas war, many people were left stranded to an investment that was inflated right at the start.

The price could not hold itself for long and this caused criticism for the team from the start, due to how badly we handled the situation.

The “no roadmap” policy served as a way to avoid negativity and to only present things the team could control, given the immense amount of speculation, and people wanting to flip these pieces due to the high volatility of such a rocky start.

In two days, Fatales gained more than 3300 holders, showing how special was this launch, even with all the negative things that happened.

Nothing of this is an excuse, though! Things should have been dealt with much better, especially by someone who was ultimately in command.

Firstly, we would like to thank Artchick for being the one pushing this collection in terms of feasibility, since she was the one joining everyone’s efforts to create something we are really proud of.

Secondly, there was one real and extremely important factor at stake that was mostly ignored — The more negativity the project received the more Lis’ present and future career would be at risk.

Artchick’s communication was ultimately not up to spec with what should be an environment that made Lisbeth thrive, and that was concerning for such an exciting artist’s future.

Combining that with all the other situations involving Artchick at the time made the rest of the team want to protect the project and the artist, so we decided to contact Artchick and mutually part ways.

With this shift, we wanted to bring Fatales to a new vision, a vision that would make Fatales last for as long as it wants to.

With the whole situation described above, we decided to change our core objectives and ways.

Instead of being guided by influence, we wanted to create a more organic environment in which Lis’ art would proliferate.

The overall genesis of Fatales is Lisbeth and we wanted to make sure she was happy so she could continue telling the story.

After this day, the Fatales collection purpose was now a community project centred solely around Lis’ art. This means that we will always push for community involvement in the projects, but that ultimately, we are fighting to give Lisbeth a seamless environment to create her art and fulfil her creative visions.

The community will be our number one priority, but Lis is our number zero priority because without her nothing of this would be here for us to create a true community spirit.

Fatales has a few things for certain now — A purpose, motivation, and a team that wants the community to benefit from the project

With the new shifted mentality, we work every day to make Fatales a positive space where Lisbeth’s art can proliferate.

We are learning the worth of our community every single day, and that is what moves us. There are still lots of things to improve, but we are taking this as an opportunity to learn from the mistakes of the past, to build a better future.

With Artchick’s departure, the team needed a rebuild to better portray the new objectives and promote the alignment of ideas. With this in mind, this is the new core of the Fatales ecosystem:

@andginja is the new leader, he has been with the team since day 1 as a Discord manager. Although the new designation comes with a weight to it, André states that he leads by example and never alone, promoting equal powers with the core team and also valuing how important the mod team is to this process.

@lisztmachina is our rockstar and our motive for being proud of what we accomplish. We hope to have Lisbeth around for a long time, as well as her amazing art!

@garygeck is our generation mastermind that helped give life to our collections. He’s amazing in everything he does.

@ape1683 is the master behind everything related to smart contracts. He always tries to push boundaries and we’re delighted to have him.

Furthermore, we have added @IAMGLIL to the project as an honorary mod/admin based on how important she is to the guidance of this project.

We also have our extraordinary mod team, which will be around to guide this community to where we want to take it.

With the new guidance, we also changed some things that were badly managed in the past and decided to break those habits.

The Fatales ecosystem is renovated, with a new attitude, defending transparency and fairness. With this in mind, we decided to provide a solid output to a community wallet that will fairly pay mods and open opportunities for money being used to further build the project, as well as support other projects.

As soon as you buy a Fatales (or a SAM), you have full copyrights to the token you hold.

We have been seeing some of our holders use their tokens on their business ventures, which truly demonstrates the power of our project.

This tweet from our community member Madaline Zannes demonstrates one of the many examples of how our project creates unique visions for the future, starting with a new paradigm of logo creation mechanisms, based on your favourite NFTs.

The options are endless, and our IP rules allow you to do whatever you need to create new horizons and perspectives for your business or personal appliances.

In the deepest silence, we kept creating more and more boundary-pushing products. One example of it is our Derivative Tool that allows you to download all the layers from your favorite Fatales and enable your creativity. This feature was already used multiple times for thematic contests, and it resonates with the uniqueness that we want to feature in this ecosystem. We believe that these details define the personality that we insert into our projects and our actions. We will always commit to working on our products with the most creative mind possible, pushing the boundaries inside what’s already a very challenging space.

Secret Agent Men (SAM) is a very anticipated collection.

It was announced under the old management, the team was not allowed to communicate anything about the collection until the SAM release. This was also one of the main motives for us wanting to shift the narrative of the project, as it did not make sense not to promote SAM.

This shift led to SAM being delayed for a bit more time, while we were stabilizing the team, as we needed some time to regroup and align our expectations with the overall product and make sure we wanted to take this forward.

Another factor that influenced a delay in this collection was the technological challenge in formulating the core logic for the whole product we are going to launch, and we will now describe that process on the topic below.

As stated before, this was one of the biggest reasons for the multiple delays of the SAM collection launch.

As announced multiple times in our public communication means, the collection design and generation were completed in late November and everything else in terms of delays is mostly due to this sole reason.

To better explain this, we need to provide some context. These challenges can be divided into two parts — The release of the SAM collection and dropping our burning feature.

For the SAM collection, you only need to own one Fatales to be able to mint a SAM, no big news here. The biggest challenge was mainly on the burning feature side.

To play the game, at a chance of getting a better SAM, you need to burn a Fatales and a SAM, which would have made the game quite expensive to play. To avoid that we had two options — To majorly improve the contract, or to design some sort of bridging to ease some of the gas attached to completing such operations.

We started designing the second solution, but it had some cons, especially on retaining the value attached to SAM, which we wanted to make a valuable asset in aspirations of creating our ecosystem.

We needed to erase our Polygon plans and started polishing all the contracts to allow for the cheapest gas possible on Ethereum, in the minting process but also in the burning ones. Although this was not the absolute reason SAM got delayed, we can assure you this was the major reason it happened.

With the SAM burning feature to get a rarer SAM (remember the ultimate goal behind burning is to allow people to get the 20 exclusive 1/1 artworks that are mixed in the collection) the genesis collection is becoming deflationary, thus increasing the value of the remaining NFTs.

One very interesting use case is that the Fatales collection trait dispersion will now be controlled by the community. With this, for example, a full trait can be burned or trimmed down to a very rare status, which might enforce a lot of dynamics into the collection.

We dropped Secret Agent Men on the 21st of January! Fatales now has a companion to join them, and these will be our two identity collections to guide our ecosystem for the future.

MintingS.A.M. are an exclusive mint to Fatales holders. For each Fatales you have, you can mint a Secret Agent Men for free. The mint window is very wide so you do not have to deal with gas, probably until the end of February. With this, we also added the option for you to bulk mint your S.A.M. saving a lot in gas.As a disclaimer, Fatales that were used once cannot be used again to mint Agents. To help you with this, we do advise you not to buy Fatales from marketplaces without checking a tool in our website that checks if a Fatales has already been used to mint.

Our goal with the launch of SAM is to establish a new paradigm — Our main focus will stop being Fatales, and we will need to focus on SAM and Fatales worlds simultaneously. With this being said, all our future products will be built on top of both of these collections. Fatales and SAM will be your identity in our world, and we welcome you to it.

Furthermore, this new launch leaves us in a very strange place in terms of overall marketing and naming, since we have the goal of focusing on both collections. Wie are evaluating the possibility of changing the overall ecosystem name, keeping Fatales and SAM as the collections of this ecosystem. That is where the “Empowering the community” starts to take shape.

This, as said above, is one of our main goals. We want to create ways for us to allow you, the community, to take important decisions regarding the ecosystem. One of those is changing the name of the ecosystem, and we need your help on that.

We are also seeking ways to keep you on notice regarding future collaborations and possible partnerships with other projects. This ecosystem is now a community gathered around Lisbeth’s art, and it would be nothing without any of you.

We value your input and we are actively looking into ways of implementing these methods in order to finally be able to offer you the power to decide. One of these ways is to use our ENS address and create a snapshot page, that will ultimately serve the purpose of allowing for community voting on a multitude of topics, starting with some decisions we need to take regarding the ecosystem.

For the future, after our upcoming drop, we want to keep the dApp activity high. We want to proliferate in the metaverse, and ultimately make a Fatales + SAM integration possible in the metaverse.

In the meantime, we will look into ways of dynamizing the ecosystem. One of our shortest-term plans is to make a game-like app that features both collections and that starts raising awareness for our intentions on creating a fusion between both collections and making the ecosystem feel effortless and seamless.

Our ultimate goal is to be able to represent Fatales and SAM in the metaverse, to allow real use cases and utility of each token, and although that goal is somewhere in the distant future, we want to continuously push to shorten those gaps and accelerate our growth.

Besides this goal, we are aware of how fashionable the Fatales collection is, with the big kudos going to our amazing artist. With the utmost respect for the women-focused collections, we feel that Fatales has something really special in its art, especially driven to the fashion scene, as can be seen in this tweet where Fatales was mentioned by a prominent page related to the New York Fashion Week, which filled us with joy. With this in mind, we would also want to announce that we will be actively contacting fashion brands with the objective of encouraging them to be onboarded into the NFT space through Fatales. We got the art, we got the style, we think we got what it takes to do it, and as a project that intends to educate people into joining the amazing NFT space, this is something that makes the utmost sense to be executed. We consider that our ultimate goal of building Fatales in the metaverse is a perfect background for brands to start employing their messages in the NFT space, and we will always try to support and educate their steps.

Also, we must not forget that our objective is to create a community to celebrate Lisbeth’s art, and although building SAM to complement the ecosystem might seem like the end, we can assure you this is only the beginning, since Lisbeth will from now on using her amazing talents on other types of art (1/1’s).

With this in mind, you, Fatales or SAM holder, are being part of the beginning of Lis’ journey through the space, and are the ultimate owner of one piece of her genesis art.

Fully redesign our website, to make it more modern and future-proof/dynamic. We have been pushing a lot for utility, but this is also something we want to improve to create a more solid perception of our ecosystem’s image;

We are also planning to enable community voting through Snapshot, allowing collections’ holders to vote on Ecosystem-specific topics, which is supporting our attempts of enabling the community to increase their say on the road we are taking;

Finally, we will also be trying to target brands and try to onboard them into the NFT space through Fatales or S.A.M.
