My name is Yang Wenhua. I’m the mother of Qi Shuo, the Laboratory Inspector of Shihezi Center for Disease Control and prevention of the eighth division.

This year is Qi Shuo’s fifth year of work. Every time I tell others that his child is a surveyor, I am both proud and distressed.

Pride is because no matter how hard he works, Qi Shuo never complains and gives up, but becomes more tenacious and optimistic. It hurts because I often see her once in two or three days. I can only chat with her when I warm her up at night.

Although I am in the same city, I haven’t seen her for two months at the longest time. In order not to worry me, she never told me the details of her work.

Qi Shuo, 26, was racing against time every day during the epidemic prevention and control period. As long as she wears thick protective clothing, goggles, mask, surgical cap and double gloves, she will do nucleic acid testing for several hours.

Recently, the national nucleic acid testing frequency is high and the sample size is large. She is busy in the laboratory almost every day. She can only go home once in two or three days. It is often midnight when she comes home. Often before dawn the next day, she went back to the CDC to work. Every time she went out, I would give her a free ride and tell her, “girl, you’re great, come on!”

I witnessed every stage from her anxiety when she first came into contact with nucleic acid test samples to her confidence in her work. Every day, she works carefully.

“At any time, I will stick to my post and do my job well.” Qi Shuo always tells me that.

My mobile photo album is full of photos of Qi Shuo in protective clothing, including those who work in the laboratory and those who stick to the front line of epidemic prevention and control with her colleagues. No matter which one, I think she is so beautiful. She has always been my pride.
