Premenstrual syndrome is the most common phenomenon in women. However, this ailment can often be seen in men. Similarly, as in the fairer sex, this syndrome is directly related to a sharp change in hormonal levels. Surely, we are talking about testosterone, namely, its sharp decrease, which leads to symptoms that are very similar to female premenstrual syndrome.
For what reasons can the main male hormone testosterone decrease? One of the reasons may be diseases, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, unhealthy weight gain (obesity). To a certain extent, infections and parasitic diseases affect the decrease in testosterone levels.
Another reason for the decrease in the male hormone lies in regular and prolonged stress, especially when it comes to young men. A constant state of psychological stress due to hard work, problems in the family or a banal lack of sleep can become obvious reasons for constant stress. This condition triggers the release of cortisol, which in turn suppresses the production of testosterone.
Bad habits can also affect the reduced production of testosterone in men. Both alcohol and smoking significantly reduce testosterone production. Even more harmful is the use of drugs.
