AI-empowered creation blurs the boundary between abstract ideation and concrete action.
The dawning of this new reality necessitates the establishment of a new framework for documenting, presenting and communicating ideas in a manner that reflects this visibly blurred boundary and mirrors the integration of ideas and actions as activating ideation.
Due to my early affinity for the French postmodern philosophers of betweenness (Derrida, Cixous, Irigaray, Kristeva, Lyotard, Foucault) and more recent encounters with a new wave of multidisciplinary thinkers (like Daniel Siegel and Rick Rubin) who stylishly subvert static dichotomies (self/other, nature/culture, individual/community, creator/created) in favor of fluidly holistic explorations of liminal spaces, I have long been intellectually inspired by the need for new integrative frameworks.
But on this Sunday night, on February 5th 2023, in Chelsea, New York, I don’t find myself called by an abstract philosophical inclination as much as I feel compelled by the acutely practical need for a clear means to document and decode human intention and emotion in the age of AI-empowered creation. This urgent need to access the vital human information embedded within AI-empowered creations has inspired me to share the IdeAction framework.
The IdeAction framework—mnemonically backronymed to “IDEA”—reframes classical rhetoric by foregrounding the authentic human emotional experience of creation:
inspiration: authentically describe the human ethical (ethos) character of the creator and the origin story of the creation, including any physical, audible, emotional, interpersonal or cultural inspiration.
description: vividly describe the human logic of the idea (logos) in a way that’s clear to human senses, perspectives and senses of agency.
emotion: record the creator’s emotion (pathos) in the act of creation and state the creation’s emotional intention, namely, the emotional impact that the creator intends for the creation to have upon other humans.
action: list the logical (logos) actions that have been and are expected to be taken (including through AI-empowered creation) in service of the idea.
At the moment of the creation of the IdeAction, I feel optimistic and excited yet vulnerable, as if I’m simultaneously qualified and unqualified to propose something as ambitious as a framework for documenting, presenting and communicating ideas. While a framework of this sort could conceivably come from a lawyer and thinker like me who’s intimately involved with architecting and empowering technologies of purpose-driven creation, I fear it might be better received if it came from an old public intellectual (like Chomsky) or powerful creative organization (like IDEO).
My emotional intention for this IdeAction is to free people from precisely this form of paralyzing vulnerability, the anxiety and fear we feel when deciding upon the form, the forum and the format in which to share our ideas, and struggling with whether we should be the ones sharing them in the first place. The IdeAction framework seeks to offer a clear prompt encouraging and liberating the effortlessly playful and transparently joyous sharing and iteration of ideas. I want to give all people the confidence and clarity of a default, modular, flexible, platform-agnostic framework for quickly and easily sharing and iterating upon their ideas and the ideas of others, including ideas for AI-empowered creations, through any medium and on any platform. I also wish to replace classical rhetoric’s combative and manipulative defaults (forged and fashioned for combative political debates, demagoguery, sophistry, commercial manipulation, and courtroom argumentation) with non-violently communicative components that celebrate improvisation and wholeheartedly embrace the highly emotional human experience of creating and experiencing creations.
I’ve written this brief description of the IdeAction framework as an IdeAction. I look foreword to listening to all feedback, revising and supplementing as needed, and plan to share an extended version of the framework in the future, which will incorporate proposals for blockchain-based implementations of protocols for equitably regenerative IdeAction.
As a further example of the IdeAction framework’s intended simplicity and ease of use, and to give you a clear sense of how the IdeAction contemporaneously functions alongside AI-empowered creation, I’m sharing my own AI-empowered creations throughout this piece, along with their corresponding IdeAction.
I feel like every time I open up the FC app the decentralized powers that be are never like "It'd be really great if there were more philosophical discussions” or “it would be great if more people were criticizing the feature and functionality of our approach to financialization” or “it would be great if people were demanding we open source the feed or rewards algorithm so it doesn’t seem like we’re putting our decentralized powers that be thumb on the algo scale and shadow banning accounts that are critical of us or our thumbs.” The FC powers that be are always like, post more sports post more cute animals. post more memes. post more babies. post more food. post more smooth brain thirst traps. they wish people would post more Classic Social Media Content. $CSMC proove me wrong
oh wow super interesting the video did not post from TBA onto FC
@base.base.eth interesting bug here
@procoin curate Union
This cast has been curated to UNION on the Feeds miniapp @marmo.eth you have been issued UNION shares Feed Market Cap: $4,403.61
love it
ok, deal, from now on im committing to posting one piece of classic social media content on the base app per day tomorrow i’ll attend jens lekman’s album (actually with my berkely friend jack who is also a lil b fan and works at anthropic but is not yet on base!?) album/book release party at the strand and it will no doubt be a a gathering of lots of well heeled good looking cool members of the new york x stockholm intelligentsia moging about their superior taste in music and literature prime hunting grounds for my $CSMC post of the day!
a) your family is so cute b) just keep posting what you want to post. The way you think is mesmerizing
I feel this too. I get we all have different needs but I almost get this vibe of anti-gloom here or connecting w/ feels, theology, philosophy, etc. like you’re saying. I appreciate the directness of your beautiful words.
thank you for really listening and symphonically hearing this point there are so many truly deep and poetic and artistic thinkers on here like @mrwildenfree @marlo @stephancill and @pichi and @j4ck.eth and @codeofcrypto @newtp and @jabo5779 but i feel like the FC algorithm (especially on the FC native app; feel like the Base feed is already much better, though it’s not open to as many) keeps fighting with us to be more basic to post more digestible simple (less ruminative less philosophical less poetic less artistic) content since i don’t think we can win against the algorithm i feel like we should start deep faking simple content and posting $CSMC that has embedded depth so like a shallow image that’s deep when you magic eye fixate upon it just a thought/ experiment
@procoin curate Union Cheers to family, baby, dog, food content :)
Thank you for including me! I kind if agree that FC, at least for the leaderboards, has a large emphasis on quantity of posts over deep ruminations. But frankly, I feel like actually talking about how you feel and reflecting on things like you do is exactly what builds the authenticity that is so lacking on the internet, which only serves to create more meaningful connections rather than content optimized to get the most likes. Just my thoughts :)
Yeh! Family! Baby! Food! Dog! Wife! Life! 400 $tipn
wholesome american family fun none of that french philosophical merde
🚀 New IdeActions Incoming 🚀 Two years after posting the IdeAction framework, I continue to believe it’s the best way to present ideas in the age of AI—where the line between ideation and action is increasingly blurred. AI isn’t just assisting creativity; it’s articulating, implementing, executing, coding, and applying ideas, sometimes even conceiving them. In this landscape, we need a way to distill the sources of human intuition, inspiration, and emotion—and IdeAction still does that better than anything else. 🔗 Read the full IdeAction Framework here: https://paragraph.xyz/@marmo/ideaction-an-intraconnected-framework-for-activating-ideation That’s why I’m doubling down. Expect a flood of new IdeActions—some sharp, some half-baked, many proposing stupid crypto coins… 🔗 Read about Civic Workout Club here: https://paragraph.xyz/@marmo/ideaction-civicworkoutclub #IdeAction #CivicWorkoutClub #CiviCoin
