Hello hello!
Thank you for being a subscriber to this cosy little space of mine! New year, big update 😄
I joined Paragraph to embrace tools being built by fellow Web3 operators to be the change I wanted to see on the decentralised web. This was about more than supporting ideas that I wished had mainstream traction, there's just something about early-stage frontier tech services that attracts the type of person I love. Of course they push me to consider new possibilities, but the rawness of a new space that's yet to be defined feeds my desire for exploration.
The native compatibility with Farcaster was of course a big part of my reasons for using Paragraph. But a few major changes have blunted my desire to spend more time there. First the influx of Clanker coins, and later the jettisoning of decentralised social. I feel the highway that pre-selected for the type of interactions these spaces brought me has gone. This has combined with how my own demands for writing platforms has evolved, as has the manner in which I engage with communities. I have literally changed newsletter platforms 4 times in pursuit of that secret sauce that balances the weird and insightful with enhanced discoverability.
And, what should come as no surprise to those operating in decentralised spaces, that little notion of online trust is the big reason for my platform switch. While Paragraph is a known quantity in Web3 circles and provides a gorgeous writing experience, I've got to go where my audience lives. My blend of tech x social commentary seems to have a more natural home on Substack. I don't want every post to be a coin, and for readers to learn new skills to engage with my writing.
I'm shifting to Substack despite the tendrils of big tech being embedded throughout its DNA. But this is a move towards one of the few remaining spaces on the internet where reading communities are nurtured. And honestly, having an app with push notifications is the embodiment of meeting people where they are.
This space isn't going anywhere, but new posts will be on my Substack. I've moved over all my subscribers to the new platform so you'll get updates from there in due course, consider this email a heads-up. If you're not psyched about the change, that's totally understandable and I'm truly grateful that you were with me all this time.
If you're reading this while not being a subscriber, click the embed below to sign up directly on my new space. My focus for 2026 is more of a morsel-based tasting menu rather than deep dives, so I hope you dig it!
See you on Substack!
