I’m using the ARKIO app with the Quest 2 headset to recreate my condo building with a mock-up of the landscaping work my HOA has agreed upon installing. It would have been nice to have a mock-up light to show the HOA before we all agreed on plant options/heights etc. Anyway, here we go!!
Anytime I start designing in the metaverse it always takes me 10-20 minutes to re-learn where all the tools are for each platform. they are all pretty similar but it always amazes me the 10 mins of frustration I have to go through to remember “how do I copy polygons again?!?”.

Once I got moving and grooving, I was able to build this below pretty quickly.

Note it’s not built to scale and the ARKIO app is more for layout or city planning design than it is fine 3D rendering. I built the building within one of the neighboorhood demos they offer on their free version of the app.
While the high-end detail isn’t there like it is in say unity, I’m actually still pretty impressed at how quickly I can mock up a 3d visual of our HOA landscaping quote. I could see a future where ARKIO is used as a supplimental 3d visual for landcaping remodels or city planning proposals. I could also see it being useful in the rapid prototyping/brainstorming phase for architecture projects.

Next, I started a meeting with myself to test out what it would be like to have a meeting to present this mock-up. I started a meeting on my VR headset and I joined on my iphone via the ARKIO 2d smartphone app.. seamless!

This app is robust. Other things that caught my eye
ARKIO lab lets you quickly transfer assets between your computer and AR headset, Unity and other 3D tools integrate easily into ARKIO.
Revit, Rhino, sketch up, unity
I set up unity and connected with Arkio plugin
Dedication to the creative workflow. I like the scenes feature and the meeting tools have some great interactive features to host a meeting.
Impressed with the plugins
Generally impressed with the attention to detail with the tools they offer as well as the tutorial section.
