For DAOs, the biggest risk is no longer only a smart contract bug. The real risk grows when treasury access, delegation power, and emergency controls are not transparent. Recent cases from Lido, Compound, and Ampleforth show that without strong proposal review, timelocks, spending caps, and independent verification, DAO governance can become weak. A DAO’s real strength is not only in its code. It is in its decision making process: who can move treasury funds, who controls votes, and who can t...

DAO governance often raises one core question: Who should hold voting power? In most DAOs, the answer is simple: governance token holders. But Lido's Dual Governance model changes this old rule. Now stETH holders can also block a controversial DAO decision, delay it, and exit the protocol if needed. This article focuses on three questions: What benefit does Dual Governance give to users? What harm can it cause to users? Why have other projects not adopted this model yet? What is Dual Governan...

The Code Was Correct, But the Protocol Was Hacked In September 2026, an attack on the Neutron blockchain saw an attacker spend about 20,199 USDC to drain around 9.4 million dollars. There was no bug in the smart contract. The governance proposal was technically valid. The vote was legitimate. The execution followed the rules. There was only one problem: the proposal was malicious, and the governance design was so weak that the attacker legally took control. This article explains why DAO gover...

DAO treasuries are often called the financial backbone of decentralized governance. They fund developers, security, liquidity, grants, market making, research, and community growth. But holding a large treasury is not the same as creating sustainable value. The real question for every DAO is simple: Can treasury spending build recurring protocol revenue, stronger security, retained users, and long term resilience? Or is it only paying for temporary activity while the revenue problem becomes w...

By Manoj Kumar Desai Web3 Governance Researcher | MconnectDAO.eth Financial markets are approaching an important transition. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, has created a temporary and conditional pathway for qualifying Tokenized Securities Venues, or TSVs, to support the onchain secondary trading of certain tokenized U.S. listed stocks. The framework became effective on September 17, 2026 and is scheduled to run for five years, until September 17, 2031.sec+1 This is not onl...

A DAO can say that it is decentralized. It can have a governance token. It can hold Snapshot votes. It can have open source code. It can use a public blockchain. It can have a foundation in another country. But none of these things alone proves that the community controls the protocol. The real question is simple. Who controls the money, the code, and the rules? If a small group can upgrade contracts, move treasury funds, pause the protocol, block users, change risk parameters, or decide whet...

The Question Nobody Is Asking Let me be direct. The most dangerous infrastructure in your ecosystem is probably not in your governance scope. For years, DAO governance conversations have circled the same familiar terrain: treasury management, tokenomics, incentive design, protocol upgrades. These are real. They matter. But they are not where the next generation of governance failures will emerge. The failures are coming from infrastructure. And governance is not prepared. The Dependency Nobody...

From Token Plutocracy to Proof‑of‑Work Governance: A New DAO Voting Standard Web3 gave us DAOs, but governance is still repeating an old-world problem: power concentrated in a few hands, low participation, and misaligned incentives. Research from 2023–2025 shows that one‑token‑one‑vote is pushing many DAOs toward centralization rather than decentralization – whales dominate, collusion is feasible, and genuine contributors often have almost no say. In this article I’m proposing a new governanc...

The system had the tools to verify. The warnings were documented fifteen months in advance. Stronger verification methods were recommended, available, and well understood. Yet none were enforced. When the loss came, protocols that correctly protected themselves triggered a second wave of damage not through bad decisions, but through the absence of communication. This was not a technology failure. It was a Reflexive Trust Collapse where governance negligence created the exploit, and communicat...

For over a year, ArbitrumDAO operated on a trial Code of Conduct and the cracks were visible to anyone paying attention. Votes ending on weekends with no quorum. Delegates sitting on undisclosed conflicts of interest. Institutions walking away because the governance felt unpredictable. These weren't small issues they were structural failures quietly eroding trust in one of Web3's most important Layer 2 ecosystems. On April 17, 2026, that changed. Why Did the Old Rules Fail? The previous Code o...
