All I could think of was that I was going to throw up from the fear. My only strategy was to continue to run until I had to walk and hope I wouldn't have to walk in front of everybody or anything. I made it through, without stopping, although the speed slowed tremendously. I was still getting looks from passersby, but when they would say something, I would ignore them. I didn't want to go home, I didn't want to be sick. I was sweating, even though I had my jacket on. I was hot and tired. And probably scared. After about a mile, I was at the water station and could see my mom, so I walked. She was so happy. I think she was relieved I was safe, and feeling pretty confident for me, but she seemed to have more relief for me than for herself. We chatted a little about things, and I managed to pretty quickly tell her about my run. It was hard to decide how much to tell her and how much to leave out, because at the same time I didn't want to talk about the fact that I was worried
