🧐 Market Insight
Market improving; Q4 favors new innovations like x402 and careful BTC-focused strategies.
Advice: use downtime to study projects and prepare for next wave of market activity.
x402 Price Discrepancy & MERL's price difference
Jeff: The price gap of MERL across exchanges was just abnormal. I woke up early that day, called the bridge dev team to check if liquidity was sufficient, and even tried some works to between OKX and PancakeSwap.
Some saw it as an opportunity, but I didn’t. Such volatility hurts retail users, who often don’t realize they’re losing to market makers. When liquidity isn’t balanced, prices can swing — $2 on MEXC, $1 on Bybit, $0.5 on OKX — which isn’t healthy for the ecosystem.
We think Kraken’s launch and BSC trading activity might have influenced the imbalance. Still, the idea behind it is solid — it just needs better coordination and liquidity management.
AI Agents, x402, and the Future of On-Chain Commerce
Jeff: Yeah, that arbitrage issue was stressful — but x402 made me think bigger. AI today can’t act for you financially. You can ask ChatGPT what should I buy, but it can’t actually make the purchase because payments aren’t standardized.
x402 changes that. It standardizes on-chain payments and APIs, so in the future AI agents can autonomously buy, trade, and manage assets in a transparent, interoperable way. Imagine just saying:“Buy a $200 gift for my dad and deliver it before Friday.”
In the future, agents will automate strategies — buy low, sell high — all verifiably on-chain. What’s exciting is that major players like Binance, OKX, and Coinbase are all building around x402. For once, the whole industry is aligned on the same standard, and that’s a huge step forward for AI-driven finance.
x402 for Payroll & Wizards
Jeff: Yeah, x402 can definitely help with direct payments, like paying 4,000 employees in stablecoins. The advantage is standardization and privacy — salaries can be sent on-chain without everyone seeing each other’s amounts.
And yes, I think this functionality will be integrated into the wizard, making it easy to use while experimenting with the platform. It’s a simple start, but fully feasible.
Merlin Chain Focus & Q4 Plans
Jeff: We’re still focused on the wizard and BTCFi, but for Q4 we’re scaling up with more strategies, news, and catalysts. After experimenting in Q3, we now know how to tokenize stocks with MBTC and MERL, and it’ll remain a major market topic.
Also, x402 AI is becoming a hot focus — now AI can do business with AI, like private AI traders or investment managers interacting autonomously. We’re allocating more resources here to explore this emerging opportunity in Q4.
x402 Compatibility & BTCFi Integration
Jeff: On x402, it’s all about compatibility. Before, integrating BTCFi across chains and protocols meant manually connecting bridges and systems one by one. With a unified standard, every builder, DeFi protocol, chain, and exchange can adopt it, making cross-chain integration seamless.
For the market, I think we still need about 10–20 more days for charts to stabilize and liquidity to fully return after the recent turbulence. For Bitcoin, staying above $114k - 115k consistently would be a positive signal. Regarding memes and utility tokens, the market needs new, engaging innovations like x402 to capture attention; simply repeating old trends or pump.fun schemes won’t drive major activity in Q4.
x402 Narrative & Its Potential Impact
Jeff: Technically, x402 is smaller than DeFi as a concept—DeFi was revolutionary and showed that crypto and Web3 could truly change the world. But like HTTP protocols in the ’90s, the real potential comes from what can be built on top. With more AI builders and teams joining, x402 could enable innovations in finance and micro-payments, connecting AI to real-world financial use cases. This could drive mainstream adoption, making crypto more practical and impactful beyond imagination.
x402 enables low-cost micro-payments, a concept that was previously impractical due to high bank transfer fees. Jeff emphasizes that this is not just crypto hype—it’s a protocol standard like HTTP, with real potential for businesses, DeFi, NFTs, and tokenized assets. I just want to be patient and careful observation, noting that new ideas often seem trivial or laughable at first, but can become transformative once understood and adopted.
Merlin Chain Focus & Exploring x402
Jeff: I don’t try to predict the future. Our main focus remains Bitcoin, and we’ll continue pushing that narrative. But as a builder, you need an open mind. When x402 came out, I spent several days exploring its projects—even those unrelated to Bitcoin—because some mechanisms or products can inspire new ideas. I think this space will be relevant for a long time, and we’ll keep watching and learning as it evolves.
Final Advice for the Market
Jeff: I think the market is improving, so take this time wisely. If you’re not spending money, spend time instead—study, learn, and prepare. Last year, the ones who profited early studied projects like Pump.Fun, GMGN, etc... Those who waited or ignored early opportunities missed out. Right now is your last chance to invest time before the market moves higher.
