Socrates: Do you think the one who had gotten out of the cave would still envy those within the cave and would want to compete with them who are esteemed and who have power? … Wouldn't he or she prefer to put up with absolutely anything else rather than associate with those opinions that hold in the cave and be that kind of human being?
My eyes blink in the neon glow. The fog makes it difficult to decipher what I’m seeing. All I knew before were the projected shadows. My flip-flops kick and slide over a pile of laminated text, tomes, and epitaphs. The reasonable analogies bridging the old world with the new. I pick one up and it reads:

I shrug to myself and drop it back into the pile.
The stories and promises about this new world are varied and confusing. There are a few things I think I’m sure of:
The boundaries are not yet drawn
New unlit paths are emerging
The rules of power are being rewritten
An uneasy tremor rumbles through the ground and distant cackles echo through the air. I stumble a few more feet forward when the fog dissipates. Before me is a large sign with a small satchel resting at its base.
