As the project lead of CCCompanions, who deployed to the Telos EVM in September of 2023, I can say that it was a very positive experience. The Telos EVM is a fast and reliable platform, and the Telos community is very supportive of developers.
One of the things that I appreciated most about the Telos EVM is that it is very easy to use. The documentation is clear and concise, and many helpful resources are available online. I was able to get started quickly and easily, and I was able to deploy CCCompanions Royalties Share to the mainnet without any problems.
Another thing I appreciate about the Telos EVM is that it is fast and reliable. The CCCompanions free mint was able to process transactions quickly and efficiently, and we did not experience any downtime or issues. This is very important to me, as I want my users to have a good experience minting on the Crystal Clear Launchpad.
One thing I appreciate is the supportive community around Telos. There are many helpful developers and community members who are always willing to help others. I have been able to get help with any problems that I have had, and I have learned a lot from other developers in the community.:
Fast Transactions and Super Cheap Gas Fees
The Telos EVM is capable of processing up to 10,000 transactions per second (TPS) with average block times of 0.5 seconds. This makes it one of the fastest blockchains in the world, according to a Baylor University study.
The gas fees on Telos are also very low, making it a cost-effective platform for building and deploying decentralized applications (dApps).
The average gas fee on Telos is around 0.00001 TLOS per transaction.
Robust Layer Zero Architecture
The Telos EVM is built on top of a robust Layer Zero architecture that provides a high degree of security and scalability. The Layer Zero architecture consists of three layers:
The Consensus Layer: This layer is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the blockchain and ensuring that all transactions are processed in a secure and timely manner.
The Execution Layer: This layer executes smart contracts and runs dApps.
The State Layer: This layer stores the state of the blockchain, including the balances of all accounts and the history of all transactions.
Antelope-based Mainchain
The Telos mainchain is an Antelope-based blockchain that provides a high degree of scalability and interoperability. The Antelope consensus mechanism allows for thousands of transactions per second, and the Telos mainchain is interoperable with other EOS-based blockchains, such as WAX and EOS.
EVM Sidechain
The Telos EVM Chain is a fully EVM-compatible chain that allows developers to deploy and run Ethereum dApps on Telos. This makes it easy for developers to migrate their existing dApps to Telos without having to make any major changes.
SNARKtor ZK Proof System
SNARKtor is a technology being developed by Telos (and many other contributors) to improve transaction speed, privacy, and scalability. It achieves this by using zero-knowledge proofs to verify transactions without revealing sensitive data through Succinct Non-Interactive Arguments of Knowledge (SNARKs). SNARKtor also reduces data storage and processing demands, making the blockchain more efficient and environmentally friendly.
The SNARKtor System will be leveraged by Telos to enhance blockchain transaction efficiency, privacy, and scalability in their upcoming zkEVM Layer 2 blockchain. This SNARKtor and Telos powered L2 will feature $tlos as the gas token.
Budding DeFi & NFT Ecosystems
The Telos EVM is home to a growing DeFi and NFT ecosystem. There are several decentralized exchanges (DEXs), lending platforms, and other DeFi dApps already deployed on Telos, and the ecosystem is expected to continue to grow in the future. Telos is also a popular platform for minting and trading NFTs.
Affordable Bridging with a Popular Solution
The LayerZero bridge is a popular solution for bridging assets between Telos and other blockchains. The LayerZero bridge is secure, efficient, and affordable, making it a great option for developers who want to bring their dApps to Telos.
The LayerZero bridge charges a small fee for each transaction, which is typically a fraction of a cent. The LayerZero bridge is a cross-chain bridge that allows users to transfer tokens between the Telos EVM and other blockchains, such as Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, and Polygon.
Check out Houdiniswap for private swapping to and from Telos.
I want to give a huge thank you to the Telos Foundation for helping to make the launch of Crystal Clear Companions such a success. We currently have over 620 active holders participating in the CCCompanions ecosystem, making it the most holders for a single collection within our ecosystem. I am so excited to be a part of this community and ecosystem as it continues to grow.
There will be more project development insight articles released over the coming months. Thank you for reading my most recent experience working with the Telos EVM.
