Lesson Of The Day #5

The Vagus Nerve

The vagus nerve is a super-communication highway that carries signals to and from the brain and many of the major organs.

It plays a central role in supporting gut and immune health, plus it regulates heart rate and respiration. It can assist in reducing stress and anxiety by activating the parasympathetic nervous system - helping our bodies to ‘rest and digest’.

Here are some simple ways to stimulate the vagus nerve:

🎙 The VN is connected to the vocal chords, so try signing, humming (hummingbird breath) or chanting to improve vagal tone.

🥶 Cold exposure: take a cold shower or dip, splash cold water on your face or press a cold ice pack on your neck.

🧘 Meditation & soothing types of breathwork: Try the Conscious Breathing foundation or practice in the MoS app ✨
