I first entered Web3 since October 2021… By November 2023, I would describe the experience as, at worst, an unmitigated disaster and, at best, “a (very) expensive learning experience” although even then, deep down, I felt that the principle lesson was that NFTs & Web3 are the Wild West and I’m not cut out for a life on the frontier.
I was done. Absolutely done. Almost…
November 2023 saw a shift in the current which ultimately led to what felt like a sea change. The lessons did begin to pay off and some of the earlier mistakes manifested opportunities. So I stuck around. I started trying new things and saw that if I looked past the highly visible chancers, charlatans & crooks in Web3, behind them still lay an abundance of possibility enabled by this new and exciting technology.
Yes, a large part of Web3 still feels like the Wild West and I’ll unlikely ever persuaded otherwise, but there could still be gold in them there hills and I won’t let the Dutch Van Der Linde’s of this space keep me from it.
