web3 identity

Why should you have a web3 identity and how to create one? If you have been involved in web3 you have probably noticed that many people are using 2 things - avatar/profile picture (PFP) and names with a .eth suffix. Many people in the crypto community employ some level of anonymity or pseudonymity. NFT avatars / PFP with a .eth name allow them to create and OWN their web3 identity. You may also use your real name in web3 especially if you already have an established personal brand. Creating a web3 identity helps you demonstrate the level of involvement and credibility in the space. So how can you create a web3 identity for yourself? 1. Create an alias or a personal brand - if you don't want to use your real name come up with a name that you would be comfortable using across platforms as this is how people would call you or refer to you 2. Buy your ENS domain name - ideally, the name you choose for yourself is a name that is still available for registering. ENS is a domain name for your crypto wallet. It helps to connect your wallet address to your name/alias such as john.eth which you can use for transactions instead of the long string of characters. You can register your ENS domain name here: http://ens.domains. You’ll be asked to connect your cryptocurrency wallet, such as MetaMask. Once registered you will receive the domain name in a form of NFT which can be traded until expiry. 3. Buy an avatar / PFP (profile picture) - you can select from many existing collections however before making any purchase it is good to try to identify communities that are active and established within the web3 space. This does not mean that they are going to cost you thousands of dollars, there are many strong communities and established projects, which are relatively affordable. NFT Inspect (https://nftinspect.xyz) is a great tool to analyze communities, NFT PFP usage on Twitter, top community members, etc. 4. Set up your Discord account - anyone who wants to be seriously involved in web3 should use Discord as this is still the main communication channel for the vast majority of communities and web3 native projects. 5. Create a Web3 Twitter account - creating a separate Twitter account from your personal one allows you to curate the newsfeed to see only web3-related content, but also to engage with others as your newly created web3 persona.
