Characters Group is a project created by mskd.eth with the vision of minimalism and simplicity in its products. Another big part of this project is creating something from nothing. There are no big artists, creators or influencers behind the team. Characters Group is intended to be a DAO - the CharDAO - governed by holders of the first collection; Letters.
The first collection within this project will be Letters. To put it simple, it is a collection of 6,666 unique, random combinations of 3 letters. In terms of rarity, the collection is divided into four types: non-words, words, triples, and specials. non-words are complete random letters with no meaning, words are letters that form real words, triples are three of the same letter (e.g. AAA, BBB), and specials are popular NFT terminology determined by myself.
The distribution for these types are the following:
Non-words - 4,418 ≈ 66%
Words - 2,248 ≈ 34%
Triples - 26 ≈ 0.004%
Specials - 13 ≈ 0.002%
The minting process aims to be efficient and affordable for all. Letters mint will be free for whitelist sale, and only 0.01 Ξ for public sale. Furthermore, the smart contract will utilise Azuki’s ERC721A , which provides significant gas savings for minting multiple NFTs in a single transaction. This means that minting multiple Letters will have the same gas cost as minting a single one. In terms of minting quantity, Early Supporters can mint up to 5 Letters, Whitelist up to 2, and the public up to 10. The distribution of the supply is as follows:
Early Supporters - 5 mints x 200 = 1,000
Whitelisted - 2 mints x 2,200 = 4,400
Reserved - 45
Public - 1,636 + remaining
Total - 6,566
Letters tokens aren’t bound to the basic black background and white text. Letters will be fully customisable. Shortly after launch, holders will be able to customise the appearance of their Letters on the official website, such as changing the colours of the letters or background, as well as setting the letters or background to the artwork of any of your owned NFTs in their wallet.
Each token comes with several utilities, consisting of passive earning of the $CHAR token, governance of the CharDAO and it’s treasury and community membership. 10% of mint profits will go directly into the treasury, where holders can vote on what happens with these funds.
Although each token is equal in its utility, some provide a higher earning of $CHAR token over the base income of 10 $CHAR/day, depending on the types previously stated. The income for each type is as follows (subject to change):
Non-words - 10 $CHAR/day (base income)
Words - 20 $CHAR/day + how common the word is (ranging between 1 and 10)
Triples - 50 $CHAR/day
Specials - 100 $CHAR/day
These daily earnings of $CHAR accumulate, and must be manually claimed by the user whenever they wish, however it will cost a gas fee each claim. Other than this utility, owners can do whatever they wish with their Letters such as setting it as their profile picture, setting it to their username, etc.
Some time after the launch of the Letters Collection, derivatives will come. These derivatives will be available to Letters holders, and will be purchased with $CHAR. There are several derivatives planned, so stay tuned for those.
The future is unknown for the Characters Group. Collaborations? Merchandise? Who knows. It’s up to the holders to decide.
