I keep getting these strange sensations.
Namely, that every guru, self-help helper, poet, entrepreneur, and general “successful person,” is saying the same shit in different ways.
The ideas are pretty basic. And as I understand them right now, it all boils down to a few key points:
Gratitude + Mindfulness
Relationships + Community
Audacity + Ambition
Gratitude and mindfulness because if you can’t feel present and grateful for the gifts you have now, how could you ever expect to be happy when XYZ thing happens.
The core of gratitude, for me, is that most everything you could ever want, you already have. The journey is in realizing and embracing this.
Relationships and community because the most valuable decision you can make in your life is the people you’re closest with. Whether it’s your partner, your besties, or your groupchat, the people you choose to love and associate with are enormous influences on you and your well-being.
Audacity and ambition because you need to dream big, like enormously big. You can’t achieve wild and crazy shit unless you dream it, visualize it, and see yourself actually doing it. This one is much more common in the entrepreneurial circles it seems, and frankly I’m not even sure this one is necessary for happiness and health. But if you desire some degree of self-defined success, it really seems most people will say audacity is important.
It’s cool and fun to say the same things in different ways, and everyone has their own unique spin. This is good, since different framings hit differently for different people. But it is worth noting, or so I find, that it’s all mostly the same.
With slight variations and deviations here and there, the meaning of all this madness is relatively simple. Be grateful, be loving, and be bold - most all will follow suit.
