Gnoland is the L1 project created by Jae Kwon, co-founder of cosmos and tendermint in 2020. Its goal is to build a decentralized, secure and scalable smart contract platform. As the founder of cosmos ecology, why did Jae Kwon create gnoland instead of cosmowasm?
From a certain point of view, cosmwasm and gnoland are in a parallel or competitive relationship. Cosmwasm has not experienced the test of time and has some complexity. One of the most easily overlooked aspects of community governance is that end users are too optimistic about the realization of functions and cannot detect the risks behind smart contracts. Juno network was shut down due to cosmwasm problem. Therefore, gnoland emphasizes the lightweight hub to improve the security of smart contracts.
Gno. Land is based on the gnolang language (a branch language of golang). The go language integrates goroutines, which is better than solidity and rust in multithreading optimization and execution efficiency. Therefore, golang has obvious advantages in processing concurrency. The gnolang language inherits from golang, with faster compilation speed, more concise syntax and resource efficient concurrency, which also brings natural advantages to gnolang. In addition, gnoland is built based on the proven cosmos underlying framework, which has a higher starting point and is more stable. It is compatible with the L1 layer of IBC and will better support cross chain interactive access.
Product roadmap
Phase I (completion) the goal of this phase is to create the first gnoland test network test1.gno Land, which contains the first domain and user interaction. This test network is hosted on a single node and has been deprecated.
Phase 2 (WIP) the second phase of the project includes the first $gnot distribution and a new token unit: ugnot. Its goal is also to guide the ecosystem, especially: (1) improve the / R / boards field, use paging or edit buttons and other functions to make it easier for the community to communicate on the chain. For example, this phase also includes creating and animating a new board for the bounty. (2) Create good documents for developers and users
The third stage (future) starts a new test network test3.gno Land, which contains an active set of validators. This means that many technical and governance decisions will be communicated more in the future.
In the long run, a core mission Dao will be launched to manage gno Land domain and coordinate verifiers and developers.
The long-term development of gnoland is more promising. I believe that gnoland will have a bright future!
