I have just signed up with the Farcaster protocol and Warpcast, all new stuff to me and I could be said to be a bit of a granddaddy in Internet terms, since we have stepped into the Web3 domain here, I’ll write with more of a blockchain slant but with one foot in the past. I want to look at ways we can record what is around us today, in order to preserve it for the future, at least in the photographic, video or audio sense; not physically, that would be another challenge entirely.
I think the chain is a good option for curation…..
Take for example this old tap, part of a drinking fountain in Funchal and you’ll see a lot of these scattered around the city if you visit. We recommend that you do, it has a lovely timeless feel about the place, you can press the pause button there and unwind. A detox for the soul.
I tried to find out more about the drinking fountains, are they in any way connected to the Levadas, perhaps via some form of purification plant? Not sure. What we do know is that Madeira has for a very long time benefitted from it’s “levadas”, an irrigation system that starts in the North, the wetter side of the sub-tropical island and feeds water to many points around the island. Many thousands of kilometres of waterways on an island that is only 286 sq miles in size 35 miles from one end to the other but it’s also very mountainous, the highest peak being 6000ft.
