We already know that ENS is the best way to simplify addresses and start building our onchain identity without complications, right? Well, now that same simplicity and efficiency can be found in BASE through Basenames. This tool makes our onchain identities more accessible and functional.

Basenames are a practical solution for onchain identities, built on the ENS (Ethereum Name Service) protocol, a decentralized and open-source system. This ensures that, just like ENS, Basenames maintain integrity and openness, which are fundamental characteristics in the Base ecosystem.

As more people integrate into the onchain world, wallet addresses—those long chains of numbers and letters—have become an obstacle to connecting and collaborating effectively. Basenames solve this problem by providing a simple and memorable onchain identity, especially created for builders.

With a Basename, you can:

• Build your onchain identity 🛠️👤: Use your Basename as your identity in the Base ecosystem. Customize your profile with a biography, verified skills, and more.

• Show your growth 📈: Develop your profile as you participate in the ecosystem, such as in hackathons or meetups.

• Connect and collaborate 🤝: Easily find mentors and other builders by viewing their profiles.

• Understand your audience 👥🔍: Discover who is using your application when they connect with their Basename.

• Simplify transactions 💸: Send and receive funds easily with a readable and memorable Basename.

Getting your Basename is easy. You just need to claim it at base.org/names. Once you do, you can build an onchain profile that showcases key details like your Talent Builder Score, Coinbase Verifications, participation in Buildathons, and more.

During the launch, names will have a price that decreases over the first 36 hours through a Dutch auction. This mechanism ensures that everyone has a fair chance to get a name they like without being outbid by bots.

Additionally, you can get a Basename for free (5+ letters) for one year if you meet any of the following criteria (these discounts will be applied after the Dutch auction period is over):

• Holder of an Onchain Summer Buildathon NFT

• Holder of a base.eth NFT

• Holder of a CB Verification

• CB1 subscriber with Verification (annual discount with an active subscription)

• Holder of an Onchain Summer Pass (Level 3 or higher)

• Owner of a cb.id

• Holder of a name from the Base Name Service (and a big shout-out to the BNS team for their early efforts and contributions in this space)

Soon, on your Base profile, you'll be able to add something called "Frames." Think of Frames as small tools you can place on your profile so that other people can interact with you in different ways. For example, with a Frame, someone could send you a payment, subscribe to your content, buy a product you're selling, or even RSVP to an event you're hosting—all directly from your profile.

• Nominate Me: Allow others to nominate you as a favorite builder on Build.top.

• Buy from Me: Sell products from your store on Slice.so.

• Subscribe to Me: Drive subscriptions with Hypersub.

• Mint Me: Make your NFTs mintable directly from Highlight.

• RSVP Me: Get RSVP confirmations for your events on Events.xyz.
