In view of the number of people who arrived on our Discord, I allow myself to make an article to summarize the OChain project. First of all, the project is part of a community and decentralized approach. The game will not belong to any profit-making company. The code will be open sourced step by step and a DAO will be set up.
OChain is in the lineage of OGame, a MMORTS released in the year 2000 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OGame).
OChain’s visual identity and artwork will be inspired by the Cypher punk style with some nod to the crypto ecosystem. All artwork is done by an artist: Rim.

The game will keep the main mechanics of its predecessor, each player will start with a planet (ERC721 non-transferable) on which they will be able to develop their civil and military infrastructures. The construction of the different mines will allow players to increase their resources production and develop their technologies. They will then be able to build their empire by constructing a fleet of spaceships, to defend or attack other planets in the OChain universe.
When ships are destroyed, this generates remnants in the orbit of the planet and these can be recycled to recover resources.
For those who know the original game, in order for the game to be fully deployed on chain, some modifications had to be made:
The spy technology has been removed because the blockchain is public and all planets and fleets in the universe will be visible.
The moons, mainly used to locate the fleets, have also been removed.
The management of the fleets has been completely revised. From now on, they will be able to move freely and be put in orbit around any planet as long as they have enough deuterium in their hold to make the move.
The recycling of debris will not be instantaneous but will depend on the recycling capacity per second of your fleet. If you want to recycle debris, you will have to stay in orbit for a while to be able to recover the resources. Someone coveting the debris field could then attack you during this time.

To answer the question : will there be a token for the game ? the answer is YES. It will have for symbol OCT and for name: OChain Token.
This token will be an utility token that will find its use mainly in the game. It will allow to reward the competitive players who will be in the top of the ranking of the different seasons.
The token, to be useful in the game, must be deposited on a contract. It will then be wrapped in WOCT and will be equivalent to a resource in the game. As a resource, it can also be won in the game by destroying opposing fleets that have it in cargo, or lost in case of defeat.
For this type of game, the web3 technology brings the possibility to make several improvements, here is the one that will be implemented

You will have a resource market in the game. All resources (metal, crystal, deuterium) will have an exchange pair against the WOCT. These will be bonding curves because resources have an unlimited supply unlike WOCT. The game implementation has been designed to be as decentralized as possible. When you install the game and synchronize an universe, the game client will only need an RPC on which to retrieve data from the blockchain. This data will be analyzed and the game database will be built and synchronized directly on your computer. In other words, there will be no centralized servers for the core game. So the game will remain playable and accessible no matter what happens.
In order to attract as many players as possible, including Web2 players, a meta-transaction relayer will be implemented to sponsor transaction gas. So all players will have a number of free daily transactions. In order to finance it in the long term, in-game bonuses will be available as subscriptions: Specializations (https://ochaingg.notion.site/Specializations-89925d908f2d44c6afec5a03c2da329d)

To deploy the game, we need a blockchain that is: very cheap, EVM compatible and with a high new block frequency (one block every 5 seconds).
Our choice is Arbitrum Nova because the transaction costs are really low (< $0.01 / tx) and the Arbitrum ecosystem seems to have a good visibility lately.
At the time of writing, the smart contracts for the first testnet are 95% complete. For this first testnet, the alliance system will not be implemented.
You will have to wait for the second and last testnet to be able to create an alliance in the game.
Regarding the desktop client of the game, the lobby is being implemented (synchronization of universes / wallet management / integration of the relayer). The relayer is about to be finished.
For the illustrations, there are about 30% of the illustrations that are finished. The illustrations will be presented on our Discord as we go along.

As the discord has been discovered for several groups of alpha hunters and 150 people have joined our discord in recent weeks, it has forced us to think about the next steps. As a small aside, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have joined us in the last week.
To start the hostilities, we have created a community on crew3. The purpose of this tool is to list small actions to promote the game. In return you will gain experience to pass levels.

To be honest, this one was not initially planned because the game had to be discovered the day of its release (initially planned at the end of 2023). Today, after several requests on this subject, it may be possible.
Please note that the game will not be owned by any company and will not have any legal entity. As such, the funds will be sent to a gnosis whose members will be notables of the ecosystem to ensure that the funds are used for what they were intended.

The goal of the both testnets is to test the game and its settings to check if the game is balanced. This testnets will be on accelerated universes (x12) and will have a duration of 2 months. In order to reward players, there will be a leaderboard based on the amount of fleet destroyed. The first 630 players in the two testnets will receive an airdrop (with vesting) proportional to their ranking.
As the game is competitive, we want to apply this logic on its testnets.
