BlockSoc is a student orientated DAO with a prime focus on education and connecting students with a like-minded passion on a global scale. We currently have roughly 200 members active in our Discord with a goal to connect the web3 world. We aspire to create the next largest student blockchain and web3 community.

BlockSoc’s initial goal was to create the first blockchain related society in Ireland, with the goal of addressing the lack of blockchain-related clubs in Ireland. We were rejected by our institution as a result of the club's creation being a difficult and nuanced process. As a result,  we decided to establish ourselves as a DAO in order to better cater to our vision of creating the largest student blockchain and web3 community in the World. 

We strive in every way to establish a global community of university students and build a DAO infrastructure that will enable students to directly link with key partners in the web3 world. We are envisioning a DAO that is the most inclusive and student-friendly, where students can gain hands-on, practical experience with the opportunity to be provided direct routes to blockchain and web3 jobs.

We plan on implementing guilds to help students gain practical experience of different areas in the web3 world. This will be tier two of our tier three system. Tier one will be mandatory to progress into tier two. Tier one consists of blockchain-related courses and educational content with regards to the layer-one protocol that we decide to build on. Once this has been completed, you will have to choose a guild. Guilds such as the developer, creative, gaming, legal & compliance, business & finance, enterprise and research guilds will all be options. Within each guild there will be real and mock bounties. Mock bountis mimic the work undertaken in that particular guild in the web3 world and real bounties are actual tasks provided by holders of the resource NFT. Both of these will form the basis for on-chain resumes, as bounty-transactions and NFT’s issued for bounty completion will all be on the blockchain. Tier three consists of students entering the start-up incubator, whereby we will provide liquidity, mentorship and support to those who have demonstrated exceptional know-how within their respective guilds. In addition, companies can outsource advice to these top-performing students.

BlockSoc will auction off a resource NFT to the highest bidder on a weekly basis for 8 weeks and then on a monthly basis after which they will expire after a year. The holder of which will be given the opportunity to set real bounties within guilds, be able to push educational content and onboard users, access to student hiring pools as a result of our on-chain resumes and fund and have first-pick at start-ups from projects originating from tier three.
