Odyssey - A crypto newsletter

I bought my first cryptocurrency in May 2021 after I saw ETH drop nearly 50% following China’s crypto ban.

It was pure speculation on my part then. Over a year later, my view on cryptocurrency investing has not changed much. I still consider it a very speculative asset class.

What has changed are the reasons why I love throwing my hard-earned money into this “internet money”.

I felt a child-like excitement when I created my first MetaMask wallet, when I played my first blockchain game, when I earned my first LP reward and when I bought my first NFT.

I soon realised that the best way to gain an investing edge is by actively using and exploring crypto-based applications.

Keeping your crypto stagnant in your Binance or Coinbase account is the most boring way to participate in the one of the most exciting technological development of the 21st century.

Over time, I consumed whatever blockchain knowledge my non-coder brain could decipher. The more I studied, the more it became apparent of how less I knew about the sector.

It was difficult for a non-technical person like me to read through the jargon, understand the coding technicalities and construct sound critical arguments to challenge existing notions without having self-doubts.

What I had was my experience and lessons as an equity investor, which I used as a guide to traverse through this fledgling space filled with uncertainties and promise.

My curious mind and my writing prowess has now prompted me share my journey via this newsletter that I call ‘Odyssey.’

I am neither a coder nor an expert of the cryptocurrency sector. I am but a writer who aims to help the adoption of cryptocurrency by sharing my adventures in way that all minds curious about cryptocurrency can understand.

I plan to write what I think are simple ways to start exploring beyond buy-and-hold investing. I will cover related-topics outside cryptocurrencies with a focus on publicly-listed fintech. I will also talk about lessons learnt from traditional equity markets that are ever-relevant to cryptocurrency markets.

Odyssey is not to be used as investing advice. It is rather a guide or a friend to accompany you in a crypto odyssey of your own. For in our individual journeys we often pass through the same roads.
