Writing Contest Resources and Tips

It’s not about winning, it’s about me getting to read interpretations, other people’s stories inspired by an attempt at explain in by the genre that just kind of happened and is probably unique to me, and a small portion of visual artists.

This is a list of completely random information about Susanne and her new neighborhood you do NOT have to use, but if you do, consider asking questions about what’s written. For example, looking at the first bullet pint, questioning why Susanne would leave such comfort and wealth for a more dangerous, lower class neighborhood? Are low income neighborhoods full of more creative spirit as well as crime? Why do you think that is? What does creative crime mean? What’s the point in protesting with suicide? Is the point of instilling change being around to enjoy it or change it for the better so that the future generations can enjoy the benefits of progression. When I read those bullet points, my mind starts asking questions like that which are potential opportunities for material as well as the answers. And I know most people already do this, but ask questions about the visuals. Why are there astronauts walking around? Do they know something the residents don’t? Can you see the little girl with the box on her head? Is that gang initiation or a stern mothers punishment who’s psychologically is wrecked by being overworked and engaging in sex work behind her husband’s back. Does this Kensington remind you of any other kensingtons?

  • from her parents mansion in the suburbs to kensington, a neighborhood thriving with creativity. where there’s creatives, there’s poverty, government funded housing and crime.

  • Kensington thrives on creative crime

  • mothers taking textile jobs home to help the household economy

  • mothers recording black-market sex tapes to help the household economy

  • kawaii stylized / camouflaged female gangs dealing light drugs and mom sextapes

  • meditation groups meeting in the parks

  • until the the parks were occupied by junkies

  • meditation groups migrated to the middle of busy street as they no longer wanted to live and called it a protest on the way out with a dignified death

  • the junkies soon followed; their street sitting suicides were far less poignant

I apologize for anything offensve you may have read, but I seldom censor or compromise anything about/any creative content or ideas. When I compared optical writing to hieroglyphics, I forgot one of the most informative, lightbulb lighting blurb.

Optical writing is felt before it’s read, the feelings evoke the words, the visuals evoke the feelings. This is the cycle that draws stories out of visuals.
