Around 11 months ago, we deployed our Farcaster frame to help users check their delegate, see if their delegate was an active voter in Optimism governance, and suggest new active delegates based on the user’s Farcaster social graph if they currently had an inactive delegate.

In the last year, we received a total of 69 invocations of the frame’s delegate checking functions. This is much less than what we had hoped for, and we think that in hindsight more work should have been spent on marketing the app, potentially with incentives. Because our frame sends users to the official agora website, we do not have end-to-end tracking to attribute increases in voting power of active delegates to our frame. That said, we believe that our direct contribution to this was limited.
Delegation:
After the deployment of our open source code, we saw an uptick in similar farcaster projects with the same goal of increasing delegation. We strongly believe that our project’s launch, plus being the first of its kind, contributed to the public knowledge of the design-space for frictionless delegation applications.

In the month following deployment we saw a ~9% increase in the total OP delegated to vote which was most likely due to a combination of efforts in the ecosystem, of which we contributed to.
Code:
During this process, we were able to provide concrete feedback to Agora on their API’s which directly led to improvements. One example of this was the “Last 10 Votes” API function call, which marked optimistic votes as a missed vote from a delegate's voting history. Based on our feedback, Agora updated their code to more accurately record voting histories for delegates. In addition, our open source code was a unique usage of the Farcaster social graph at the time and we hope that this encouraged creative usage of the social graph in other applications in the Farcaster ecosystem.
Overall, this was a novel project that we believe had positive *indirect* contributions to Optimism delegation and Farcaster frames, but with limited direct impact. We would recommend similar projects in the future to focus more on a distribution strategy to drive more users to the app.
