Bybit exchange introduced a keyless Web3 wallet

Bybit, the cryptocurrency exchange, has ushered in a new era by introducing support for a revolutionary keyless Web3 wallet. This innovative wallet leverages MPC (Multi-Party Computation) technology to generate private keys, reshaping the landscape of digital asset security. A recent study by the exchange underscores the paramount importance of security and user-friendly features in the realm of digital asset wallets.

The press release articulates the significance of MPC technology in mitigating risks associated with the loss or unauthorized access of private keys. By eliminating the need for users to remember or store private keys, the MPC wallet champions a paradigm where security is bolstered without compromising on ease of use. CertiK, a reputable auditing entity, conducted a thorough audit of the MPC wallet, validating its robust security measures.

The essence of MPC lies in its mechanism of dividing the private key into two shares, or "shares," distributed between the client and the exchange through homomorphic encryption. Bybit's application incorporates a zero-knowledge proof mechanism, preventing any disclosure of private keys by parties involved. Additionally, the use of TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) AWS Enclaves fortifies data protection on the exchange side.

By adopting a 3FA (Three-Factor Authentication) model, Bybit ensures the security of the wallet. This model integrates a Bybit account, a wallet password, and authentication through the user's mobile device.

Bybit's foray into the keyless Web3 wallet aligns with the exchange's commitment to addressing the complexities and potential security concerns that often deter users from exploring the vast potential of Web3. This strategic move marks a pivotal milestone in realizing the vision of Web3 as an open and equitable ecosystem for all. The exchange expresses gratitude to the Web3 community for its support, which has contributed to the exponential growth of Bybit's wallet users, reaching the milestone of one million.

Ben Zhou, the co-founder and CEO of Bybit, commented on this transformative development, emphasizing that the Keyless Wallet is a crucial step towards realizing a Web3 ecosystem that is accessible to everyone without compromising on security. He also revealed plans to introduce mnemonic phrases as a backup option in February, further enhancing the wallet's robustness and user experience.
