Meme Maxis week 198+199

SZN15 • Apr 27 – May 10, 2026

Highlights and phoenician uprisings of the Meme Maxis, weeks of April 27th and May 4th, 2026, cover art by m0dest___, captioned “< some things never change >”.

As our planet pirouettes its screwball corkscrew trajectory through inky space, outside observers might still assess “business-as-usual” for Earth: same as it ever was, even a few billion years along.

But: one intern raises a Notice Notice.

“Look: consciousness on Earth is expanding nonlinear. Their satellite matrix is still self-contained . . . hang on, check it out: they’re finally reusing rockets.”
“I see. The inmates are getting restless.”
“There’s another issue, Hypatia.”
Slight beat. “Ok, hit me.”
“The Meme Maxis Newsletter has returned.”

Brisk strides for ronnaldong, newly greeted in meme maxi mayhem by mayudropsphotos, jennadixonphoto, DeltaSauce; and props to AEZY and pelingenc_ for pushing the saloon doors of maybe’s dive bar. Vibe check: JamesAfineart holds space at a paradise he calls “the stress zone”, while Gray eyebrow-raises the chaos buffet: our collective new reality, where the weird are, at breakneck speed, turning pro.

We didn’t forget: happy birthday to senemsad! And to gulyildizart, who handed out gifts while CorinaObertas and MferOnes scrambled to mint her work back to her on Objkt + Transient in celebration.

Of Eggs, Chicks, and Beyond

punk6529 + 6529er unveil the 6529 Network Museum. It’s permanent, it’s TDH-native, it’s an art collection. It’s custodied at networkmuseum.6529.eth with a forever-stamp engraving the vision: “[T]he world’s most impactful decentralized art museum: open globally, governed by the network, and built for cultural permanence rather than financial extraction.” Peruse in-depth for details on the 3-of-5 multisig SAFE, roadmap for progressive decentralization, and more.

This card rockets through the leaderboard, a Great Glass Elevator crowned as Meme Card 493 (see below), drawing 8.12 ETH to fund a 60-day kick-off: everyone’s invited to submit, and winning 1/1 photographs yield 0.5 ETH per work.

The debut Keys and Gates: Accession Program 01 is an open call for CC0 1/1 photographic works “about the structures that permit, exclude, surveil, and the quiet act of leaving.”

Mint proceeds fund acquisition of 1/1s for the permanent collection. As punku’s characteristically clear x article expounds: anyone submits a Meme Card to intro a new accession theme, the network decides on the premise and pieces to buy, artists get fixed payment and museum placement, minters collect both card itself and compilation edition of works.

Consumer Access (2024) by cafromthesky — submission to Keys and Gates: Accession Program 01.

A plum second-order point in item 10 worth snapshotting: because the museum only buys, never sells, and never fractionalizes, the network’s purpose elevates from collective action to state-benefactor function.

Meme Card 488: Credo Quia Absurdum

post image

A second turn at the Memes for GuidoDisalle . . . a welcome nod to cozyfuturecore.

Guido’s well-known for bold flash-photographed work and for Sicilian Kiss, the timed open edition he released for free at the height of his sales run (announcement), seeding the editions-by-Guido constellation through burn-and-redeem mechanics, one of network art’s early and generous proofs of concept. His first meme card, Red Pilled, lived polaroidly in that photographic register, capturing we’re all gonna make it in aperture-apropos 90s-retro resplendence.

Then “Credo Quia Absurdum” zags: a Renaissance-clad tableau crowned by Pepe, threaded through with fire and holy spirit. It’s a flotilla, clad in red robes, atop Tertullian’s I believe because it is absurd formulation, akin to faith’s refusal to be bound by reason (announcement).

As Guido tells the drop-day TMS Space, photography may be his calling card but the practice has always sprinted wider: collage, abstract painting, generative work, exploration in tandem with AI. In these lush environs the Pupa-Papal Pepe pivot rather reads as locking-in with the broader toolbox.

Mirrors of Our Own

The Levine Letters are live: read the first of the Toledo Museum of Art’s staggered reviews of twelve works from the BatSoupYum collection. BSY’s thrilling announcement traces the collaboration and pieces curated by Adam M. Levine (TMA Director), starting with the mesmerizing Melting Carpets: Flux 2.0 by Azerbaijani artist Orkhan.

LadyCactoid logs lineage while redbeardnft unfurls forward: This is how we build.

Days later, Rob De Los Santos (RDToTheMoon) steps into the Letter’s marquee of bright lights, joining the Toledo Museum of Art as Web3 Community Manager: a role built to support the museum’s digital-art community while strengthening connections among artists, collectors, builders, and broader audiences. Long-haul patron-curator energy. Now with firebolt to send it lunar.

In the southern hemisphere: a piece from BatSoupYum’s Uprising Art acquisition (curated by musicalnetta) is now on the wall at The Line Gallery in Auckland, New Zealand, per and facilitated by mintface.

Meanwhile, a most momentous arrival this week. Faces by hafftka: 99 1/1s, 50 years in the making. Released by ICONIC on OpenSea with RDToTheMoon at the helm. The Art Pass holder presale sold out early; the public release in under one minute. Michael Hafftka — minting on-chain since 2021, his Incisions set already a 1986-MoMA-acquisition-to-2022-Ethereum bridge — carries here the institutional weight of his analog provenance (permanent collections at MoMA, Met, SFMOMA, British Museum) onchain at single-collection scale not previously attempted, with hand-signed Hahnemühle prints completing the physical-digital handshake.

Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out 2026 — 30×22” watercolor + ink wash on handmade paper, by hafftka

The reveal transforms timelines into a portrait gallery: Neighbor, Thinker, King, Voodoo, Almost There, Crisis, Psychotherapy, Friendly Ghoul, Death Mask, Square, Angling, Prayer . . . each surfacing its own provenance. ROBNESSOFFICIAL, in hushed tones: “CELEBRATE THE WINS, CONGRATS HAFFTKA! LIVING LEGEND!”; RDToTheMoon ruminates on what conviction looks like when the village convenes, and Hafftka reflects the gesture: “You understood exactly where this work comes from and what it took to get here.”

Meme Card 489: Believe in Summer

post image

A wild jiwa appears, lounging astride SZN15’s riverside: artist, coder, and meticulous cartographer of climates.

jiwa describes practice with clarion aplomb: generative narratives about inner worlds, process / progress / self rendered through algorithms that bridge into the physical. He’s co-founder of the ntent.art collective and platform, with a library spanning Art Blocks, OBJKT, fxhash, Gamma, and now 6529. The 2023 PETLS sequence ran five chapters — Stillness, Breeze, Complex, Storm, Endurance — across multiple chains, with a live experience at Berlin’s OBEY art space. 2025 brought DDUST (“a dust storm hits Ethereum”) and PORTRAITS I; 2026 saw cOUNTERSPACE, his solo with Galerie Met and Verse. The soil sprouts collaborations with Bernar Venet: EVENT with Sotheby’s, L’ISOTROPE and D’MORPHISM with the Venet Foundation and Budapest Biennale 2023.

Some generative artists speak ornament, but jiwa’s activist current powers live wire. f*ck putin raised roughly $8K for Ukraine relief; BLMtv found its way into DC public middle schools; ~2,500 trees planted through ntent with 600%+ carbon footprint offset; a hundred-mile walk with Indigenous leaders against the Line 3 pipeline; a 2018 Indonesia earthquake photo exhibition assisting disaster relief. The work is patient, the conscience steady.

Which brings us, que Seurat Seurat, to the card itself. On-chain description or spell’s invocation?

Relax and dream once more of summer. The grass we touched now sleeps under frost. The sun remembers those who endured the cold. Both fear and roots grow quickly. I can even now feel the warmth on my cheek. Believe in summer, bring forth the heat.

< modest methods \ maxi signal >

Nineteen originals, four days. m0dest___ lowkey runs a concrete-poetry workshop, each piece flanked by invitation punctuation, a phrase sandwiched, scattered through whitespace, radio static, leaves across a pond. which way is wonderland. on a silver platter. man vs machine. god speed. If we’re “not able to look at what’s in front of us, unless it’s inside a frame” according to Abbas Kiarostami, m0dest dropping rests like beats speaks clairvoyance.

post image

The arc crisscrosses too. some things never change arrives once, then twice, then three, four, five times inside an hour: chant, mantra, or rod in the ground for the collection of lightning? Wry blossom (are we having fun yet?) to precision projectile that brushes water midlake (i don’t want trouble. but i don’t avoid endings.) to blessed benediction beyond sermon’s end, m0dest’s rhythm is real-time and the timeline’s the chapbook.

Meme Card 490: ASCENT

post image

A return for Nrsin, whose first misty-mood memeTowards the Passage, minted May 2025 — framed card as facilitation: attention travelers, step into unknown dimensions not parallel or anti-parallel. ASCENT lengthens the charcoal carpet of inquiry one step further: what’s on this portal’s other side?

The continuity is more than thematic. Towards the Passage’s on-chain attribute roster, in the artist’s native Turkish, charted destiny last year — Mystery: Yükseliş (ascent), Secrets: Kapı (gate), Home: Sır (secret) — the sequel card already woven into the metadata of the first.

Latest oracle reads as providence:

The fog did not lift, yet some chose to walk. They set the dystopia on fire. They turned memes into play, and play into a key. Those who passed through the gate no longer belonged to this universe.

Intergalactic Planetary

A flicker of we are so back on the first Monday of May’s moodboard proves foreshadowy: Ars0nic is deep in on SYSTEMS, a generative art project long in the wings, built for collectors to co-create works in ways unpredictable and cosmic. Launched on Shape for the platform’s focus on experimentation, accessibility, and cultural resonance, SYSTEMS has, as of press time, reached nearly 300 mints.

post image

As collector, Ars0nic continues to show that curation, discerned well, deserves dinner-bell positioning: revelatory, delightful, right on time.

Meme Card 491: Just Culture

post image

A snowboom’s welcome to James Andrew, whose arrival to-camera clicked by way of 20 years of electrical work and 1 catastrophically expensive life decision.

The work is a long exposure sublimated from the Canadian Rockies: a train threading the dark, via primordial peaks, its passage sung as luminous streaks. JamesAfineart frames the form as motion + infrastructure made metaphor.

Check out James's stunning work on Transient Labs, Manifold, and elsewhere.

Beaks and Branches

An installation for the internet” is the vista nicedayJules chooses for “Birds”, 100 named creatures who navigate a network of sanctuaries owned by collectors — pollinating, alighting, drifting, returning, pecking about. Built in collaboration with mungimungimungi and debuting in livestream and in-person event in Los Angeles, the project is the chartreuse canary in web3 who signals presence, observed. Its invitational nature has collectors coo-cooing at the possibilities of art formidably in flight, plus the_djc_ who, staring down the empty nest of two kids leaving for college, remarks on how the menagerie descends like a sledgehammer (in the best possible way).

X twitters. RaoulGMI’s Quillian — flutters among aviaries afield, while the parrot gallivants somewhere . . . unknown. maxkarlan welcomes Sienna for a flash; gmspace_ learns each of 100 birds by name; cafromthesky, sitting at the park with kids, suddenly notices every chirp surrounding him, alive.

Jules, the day after: I thought the installation might feel like a finish, but it doesn’t. It feels like just the beginning. The flock’s flown from home. justinmaller is already crowdsourcing a name for a bird “away frolicking” — your binocular’ed stenographer remains partial to Faartz, spoken long-vowel style and clocked by KateVassGalerie — but voting stays open as air.

Meme Card 492: Pursuit of Volatility

post image

A mountaineer’s hello to Ben Strauss: Strauss on 6529, native Coloradan, lately inhabiting rugged dreamscape photography and author of the Pursuit of Equilibrium generative compendium. Its Pendulums sub-series, in the artist’s own framing, proceeds with virtual pen intent on throughline: line-craft returned to physical paper as cleanly as it speaks on-screen, also what Ben’s profile pointed to this week: physical Pendulum pen plots, now open to order after months of periphernalia tests.

Pursuit of Volatility emerges as mischievous younger sibling: deterministic monophony, set loose on undeterministic substrate. Bitcoin was always dual-cast as both terrain and weather, fitting for geographic object drawing elevation with its every tick. The artist frames it as bifocals for an obsessive chart-watcher.

Superpower: Ability to Miscall Everything: every collector who’s ever refreshed at three in the morning knows themselves on that local minimum. But the kicker, dropped at closing bell (of on-chain text), lands the piece cleanly marked to market: Watch long enough and a different pattern settles in. Up and to the right.

Cathedrals on Parchment, Daemons in Oil

andresdelvecc keeps two new series running in parallel — one intimate, one vast — after a Sunday detour to the Met where Raphael became sideshow (correct is an insidious enemy) and the museum, in mysterious wisdom, guided him toward Gothic architectural drawings and photographers who found religion in post-midnight parking lots.

post image
ARCHITECTURE FOR THE DEAD AND DREAMING, oil on canvas — works in progress, by andresdelvecc.

By Monday the work is pressing him: oil-on-canvas cathedrals first drafted on parchment the way medieval architects did it — wielding compasses and iron gall ink, every spire decided not by thought but by engraving — and DAEMON STUDIES, a procession of ideas made into flesh that look back at you while you conjure them. By Tuesday the sketchbook boards a train out of the ourobouros; by Wednesday the procession of daemons intensifies so we’re no longer keeping count.

Meme Card 493: Keys and Gates

OG punk and 6529er, the Memes’s own visual architect (whose Gradient remains a labor of passion), steps from identity work to a new kind of collective-identity work: Keys and Gates, the inaugural Benefit Work Edition of the 6529 Network Museum, with Accession Program #1 to launch its grand opening — (announcement from punk6529)

post image
A black-and-white placard on museum wall.

punk6529 waves the starting banner for photographers the moment the card’s selection looks locked. Bar absorbs the brief in real time: drop-day greetings, members cheering the slate, photographers who don’t think of themselves in-concept psst-ing privately what they might submit. Stat noted: Weapon — Documentation.

Terrania of the Elements

We here at the Meme Maxis Office don’t know when wilderness became aesthetic backdrop instead of ethical commitment, but some artists always lived their compass.

post image

For brynnalisephoto, four words on wildlife sums up her no-further-questions-your-honor motto. It’s one focused beam among many of her work, broad as the skies: majestic creatures in repose, snow patterns, Pacific blues and oranges laid out in delicious, bite-sized slabs. When nearly a foot of heavy storm takes down her aspen copse in Boulder, CO, the work and the watching continue unabated. Her “Timeless” compendium, of the wild expanses of the American West, carries poetry even through titling: here’s In the Shadow of Granite (SuperRare, collected by gpebbles).

Across oceans interleaved, on the world’s oldest exposed continent, it’s sacred country: intrepid_p’s domain. The Intrepid Wave unrolls triptych #3 with Blue Exile (OpenSea): the edge of everything, or the beginning of somewhere else? . . . a question that rides on winds to a photographer who’s more comfortable than most on storm and fury’s threshold. The work interleaves places holding ancient provenance — Uluru, Kata Tjuta, The Last Realm — sites who carry their own gravity, invitational but selectively, to the lens that reveals them.

From Cloud to Catalog

You thought the halls of Casa_NUA — Domínio Público 6529, the world’s first CC0 NFT art gallery, in downtown São Paulo, were full-on Memes’-history-in-the-making last week? Yes, the inaugural show, Formosa, from Cloud to Land, closed Friday, April 24, with all thirty commissioned 1-of-1s sold out: sales that funded the gallery’s installation, memorialized with dessert café-gourmand-style in Rolling Stone Brasil boasting a 33-artist roll call headed by the Marvelous Hugo Faz. But barely a breath — now April 29 — and what should debut in the same room? The groundbreaking gallery’s unprecedented first ongoing exhibition, pode crer, powered by from The Memes by punk6529: 6529 Memes.

Sixty-four CC0 NFTs across twenty-seven displays: mostly primary canon, a few Meme Lab pieces, one 6529 Complaints card (or we wouldn’t hear the end of it), and a special Casa NUA Meme Card submission, organized along three thematic axes. Seizing the Memes + Freedom to Transactcommerce and exchange in the digital realm as fundamental right, unmediated by platforms or institutions + OM — Open Metaverse and the Future.

HugoFaz declares it the best curation I’ve ever made, and also the one I had most fun doing.

post image

The headphones at the audio screens are intimate; rocketgirlART’s oil-on-canvas and g9ralt’s physical activation serve as bookending anchors; visitors leave with mini NFT Adoption Pathway and Meme Enjoyoor cards up their sleeves. 6529 onboarding stall, workshop, and landing-page-with-physical-counterpart together guide first-time visitors from wallet download to first gm.

Casa_NUA’s got you covered: fully funded by the 6529 network, we’re taking CC0 networked art to the masses in a way that has never been done before. And one memorabilia toward that goal, with a curious caper of a backstory: 6529 Memes at the Boys’ Club, informally commissioned by punk6529 in the misty halcyon days of 2024 for the then-imminent Stream, now sourced shot-by-shot by HugoFaz and pateideias for Casa NUA, released to mark all grace and grandeur.

Three days into the run lands the Network Museum announcement. Hugo, who has spent the week not only walking crowds through the catalog one portal at a time — but also expounding at length for The AntiFragile Bazaar (a meme card book by Zar and dsoeirosanches) — wraps in succinct line that reads as both compliment and continuation: I guess this is finally a model for building a decentralized collective collection of art done right on web3.

The cloud has landed.
