Seven Maxims
Here are the Seven Maxims of Philosophical Foxes. These are the values with which we chose to play, build, experiment, create, and tell stories together. They were created by our community.
Philosophical Foxes Year Two: Heads & Tales
gm foxes, Happy Anniversary! To celebrate the beginning of Year Two of the Philosophical Foxes project, we’re getting everyone a shiny new content engine for Narrative 01. This week, we will be launching the first of three stages for our new Heads & Tales content initiative. The goal of Heads & Tales will be to incentivize and direct our community as we collaboratively create our characters’ shared reality in a simple and asynchronous way. We will slowly and steadily be establishing lore, dis...

Introducing: Fox Bounties
Foxes, We are following a path of “progressive decentralization.” That term, coined by Jesse Walden, notes the practice of starting with a more centralized structure and slowly handing more and more power to the community over time. The benefits of this approach are that it allows a centralized group to move quickly at first, ensuring core infrastructure is robust and that a genuine community is being built. As maturation occurs, the project reaps the benefits of true decentralization. What d...

Foxes,
This past weekend saw us host our first ever hackathon. As you will no doubt know, the focus of our exploration was the world of ~dreams~.
I am blown away by what we all came up with. Beautiful, hilarious, weird, and wonderful ideas mixed and danced together across a Miro board as dreams mixed with nightmares which became symbols and finally secrets. It is incredible to see what a creative community we have and it gives me so much optimism for the road ahead.
As a reminder: the point of this hackathon was to dream together and to use those dreams to inform the culmination of Season 1: The Somni, where Foxes open up a new realm. The ideas and themes that you surfaced over the past three days will help us bring the dreaming world to life.
Of course, I also would love to see the community run in other directions with what we created this past weekend. What should we make with our dreams? You all will be the greatest innovators on that front, but to get the ball rolling, here are some idea seedlings that have come to mind. Some prompts, if you will.
The whispering wall. A permanent place to share Fox secrets and browse anonymous submissions.
Real nightmares. An animated/illustrated collection of nightmares that our Foxes are haunted by.
Alternative trait “packs.” Create a new set of Fox traits including past dreams, nightmares and secrets a la Loot.
A story. Use one of the symbols, dreams, or nightmares as the prompt for a story or poem about your Fox. (We could compile submissions into a beautiful ebook)
Plus a million more things we haven’t thought of yet! I’d be super curious to hear what ideas have sparked for you all. For now, let’s take a look at some of our revelries. I’ve picked a few of my favorites, but there are truly no bad entries 😊. (For real!)
Civis vulpes sum!
🦊💭,

PS - we’re working on a POAP NFT that will be delivered to all hackathon participants! Stay tuned for more information on that front soon.
