Ramp on

Has there been a moment in technology with a steeper learning curve then web3? Without a central authority holding my hand, functioning in a decentralized environment isn’t easy. Communities dedicated to this new way of engaging with the Internet skew to a younger demographic who are Internet natives. I don’t see my mom jumping into DeFi anytime soon.

Where web2 companies acquired new users through advertising, web3 organizations on-ramping people interested in using their tools through education. This is a paradigm shift in strategy, making participation the KPI instead of transactional metrics like time on site and video view time.

Companies like Rabbithole, Kernel, and Gitcoin provide tools and services to educate people who are interested in everything from Bitcoin to Layer 2 protocols to the differences between Solona and Polkadot. These companies have replaced the traditional ‘free’ Internet through advertising model with incentives to inspire people to participate. It’s refreshing to education prevailing over disruption.

What I did yesterday:

Finished development setup: I completed setting up my MacOS dev environment. Goal is to launch a functioning DApp by EOY.

Zombies feeding my brain: I completed Level 1 of cleverflare’s CryptoZombies Solidity quest. The format was easy-to-follow, but it became clear the quest was too advanced for me. Back to on-ramps…

Don’t pull the $WOOL over my eyes: The floor on OpenSeas for Farmers in Wolf.Game was @ 0.2ETH, so I bought another one, bringing my total to three deeds and three farmers. This will be the first project I’ve aped into. Hoping the dev team knows what they’re doing and can sustain the momentum they created last week.
