Welcome to my second article on SUI Naming Service aka SNS. I gave an introduction to SNS in my previous article. Today let’s take a look at SUI blockchain and how SNS integrates into SUI ecosystem.

Sui is a high-performance Layer 1 (L1) blockchain being developed by Mysten Labs to serve decentralized, latency-sensitive applications.
Sui is the first permissionless Layer 1 blockchain designed from the ground up to enable creators and developers to build experiences that cater to the next billion users in web3.
The team is ex-Meta employees who worked on the Diem and Libra projects — AKA Facebook’s failed attempts at blockchains. However, unlike Libra or Diem, Mysten’s Sui is already valued at $2 Billion.
Sui processes transactions more efficiently than other traditional blockchains. Traditional blockchains lump all transactions together and execute them one by one sequentially (regardless of whether they are token transfers or NFT transactions, etc). Sui organizes data into objects that are independent of each other, which means these objects can be executed in parallel. To the regular user, this leads to quicker transactions and lower fees!
In fact, SUI is still in test-net phase and it will take few months until main-net.
According to CEO of SNS,
Why did the mighty Sui Name Service Team pick Sui?
Well, we see Sui becoming the gaming blockchain because it provides the necessary infrastructure to make it happen!
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, it’s a clean slate with unlimited opportunity. There are no projects running 100% of the ecosystem. There’s no infrastructure yet. There are no standards. But, there’s technology available to onboard billions of users (for real).
And right now, the Sui Name Service can make Sui the Gaming Blockchain by creating the necessary identity infrastructure for games to onboard to. Think usernames (domains), profiles, or even messaging.
SNS is built on top of SUI blockchain to provide a domain service, somewhat equivalent to Ethereum Naming Service. Since SUI is new, the opportunity for SNS to expand is infinite. In fact, SNS is something which can expand to the whole SUI ecosystem and beyond.
Well, as I mentioned before SUI is still is in test-net, so it will be a while before we get to see SNS in full capacity. But SNS Dev-net is just around the corner. There will be lots of rewards for early users. More on that in my next article.
Until then,
