Submissions for Pixies World Art Competition

Pixies World begins now!

This is a major step on Roadmap 2.0 🔮 where we are creating one of the first DAO-created NFT collections. We have run this competition so that one Pixie holder can be voted in to join the team as our next collection’s resident artist.

The DAO will play a huge part in steering the art into what we want to represent the extended collection. This will not affect WoW Pixies holdings, those will still be the only NFTs to ever have a vote within the DAO. Each Pixies World NFT will be a free 1 to 1 mint for each WoW Pixies NFT you own.

Joyfully sharing my first piece of art with this group! I think of our DAO as a collage for a few reasons. 1) Our DAO’s proposal discussions honor different perspectives and highlight the nuance beautifully. 2) We fund collections led by diverse founders, which helps the NFT ecosystem become less homogeneous and more of a collaged masterpiece. 3) Through our investments, our vault has become its own collage of beautiful pieces that collectively make a statement of who we are and what we value. Therefore, I wanted to create a collage-style piece of art using digital, paper cut illustration as my submission. I hope this collection will look distinct from any other PFP collection, and I’m thrilled by the prospect of collaborating with this incredible group to build something amazing. I’m sure there will be many awesome submissions, and I’m honored to even be considered!

My sample entry for Pixie World. I have an illustrative style and have enjoyed mixing textures and animation lately. I think the combo makes for a unique NFT that miiiight stand out a little bit from the rest. I'm adept with Photoshop and layers and feel confident I can execute the work needed for a generative collection. I had fun thinking up traits for my two samples and the possibilities are endless (seasons, zodiac symbols, fantasy, 1/1s that represent the diverse cultures and backgrounds of the Pixie community, so many ideas!). Excited to submit my entry and looking forward to where we go next with Pixie World.

Hello! I am finally submitting my Pixie interpretation. My style is eclectic and my influences are fashion drawing/anime/comic illustration. I can definitely "tone it up" and "tone it down".

Here's about my approach:

My idea is that each Pixie would have a pixelized background which I think would really hilight the art and combine the Pixel + Pixie
I wanted to include a mix of classic clothing/traits (such as a hoodie), and some more fun/unique ones (infrared skin).
I also wanted to explore elemental vibes/outer space/and some more “muted” styles

Hi Pixies! I am submitting 4 examples of my pixies for Pixie World! I am Sophia, a 13 year old digital artist. I am currently working on a 1/1 collection but being the artist for Pixie World would be a dream for me. My mom (HexagonSpace), has encouraged me to start in Web3. I am taking the 3 classes from NasAcademy that Wow Pixies has provided! I also hold a Wow Pixie (my first nft) and so does my mom.

I have lots of ideas for traits and how to incorporate them into my art. Some of my ideas:

The pixie dust around the pixies can be different colors
Companion animals, such as the one on Pixie 4
Wing shape will be different
Other traits like accessories, headpieces, jewelry, backgrounds etc.
10 - 20 - 1/1 pixies that represent each section of Pixie World

The wing shape is something I want to use to show what type of pixie each one is. I thought it would be cool for the pixies to show their interests/[passions/careers through their wings. For example one wing shape could be artist pixies, these pixies could be musicians, painters, actors etc. Another could be the tech pixies and so on. It reminded me of how the discord is divided into workstations and how the wow pixies are all working together to create this community. Our Pixie World would be all of us, as ourselves, trying to use our strengths as pixies to make something great. I hope you like my art!

It’s closely linked with WoW and WoW pixies because I felt it would be good to stay true to our artistic roots. But it’s also quite different - the hair and skin neck down have special markings of the same color as the eyes, and the background colours used are vibrant and playful like I imagine a pixie world is.

Here is my entry for the competition! I am a NFT-enthusiast and collector, and this is my first attempt as an “artist”. In January I started to play around with coding, generative art and 3d-modeling. I love how it allows me to connect my analytical left brain with my creative right brain. My initial thought was that if WowPixies is going to keep the name and branding Pixies World, the new collection should be pixelated too. I searched around and found a 3d artist who made different random objects in these cool blocks/cubes, and I immediately thought it would be the perfect look for the new WowPixies. I am having such a cool journey learning this 3d-technique! The fundamental idea is to focus on the pixel itself rather than the grid, in order to make the final result look unique. I am Souad, it's my first time doing an art contest but i was inspired and i would love to be the artist for the next Collection. I only discovered yesterday the contest so it was made quickly, i wanted them to be super cute with different expressions and clean designs, i used some traits of the WOW collection like the purple skin night godess, the cyber green skin. For the backgrounds also i used the WOW color combinations. These are just a few ideas, i can create variety of hair styles, other backgrounds, clothes, accessories... depending on the the direction you want to go.
