Sui chain overview

Sui is a low latency, high throughput layer 1 blockchain designed for creators and developers with a focus on serving the next billion web3 users. It offers deployment of decentralized applications (Dapps) with superior smart contract architecture compared to competing chains like Ethereum. Sui aims to provide scalability and unprecedented low latency for simple use cases by processing the majority of transactions in parallel.
Sui features and benefits

The developers of Sui are positioning themselves as a general purpose network with high bandwidth, fast and cheap transactions, and a user-friendly interface for Web3. The goal of Mysten Labs is to create a platform for running high-performance decentralized applications.
The Sui architecture is described in detail in the whitepaper and technical documentation. A feature of the project is the use of its own programming language Sui Move - a modified version of Move, developed for the Diem project. If in other blockchains the basic unit of storage is an account, then in Sui these are objects that are created and managed by smart contracts. An object can be any type of asset, and each has a unique ID, owner, and the property to be mutable or immutable.
Unique features of Sui

Sui differs from other Tier 1 platforms such as Solana and Aptos in that it allows many simple actions and transactions to bypass consensus with Single Writer Friendly (SWF) applications. This makes its TPS (transactions per second) ceiling astronomically higher than other L1 platforms and prevents network failures due to high transaction volumes. The platform uses a unique process called "transaction parallelization" to achieve horizontal scaling, which allows transactions to be processed in a parallel agreement. The Sui architecture targets various development vectors such as NFTs, games, messaging services, social networks, and decentralized identity platforms.
Sui Move and smart contracts
Sui is written in Rust and supports smart contracts written in Sui Move, a powerful asset-centric adaptation of Move for the Sui blockchain.Sui Move provides security and speed advantages over other programming languages such as Rust (used in Solana) and EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine).
SUI token and distribution
The native token of the Sui blockchain is SUI with a fixed supply. The SUI token serves several purposes in the Sui ecosystem, such as participating in the platform's proof-of-stake mechanism through staking and playing an important role in the governance of the Sui blockchain.
Consensus mechanism

Sui uses a fault-tolerant Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism for security, which allows over 100,000 transactions per second. Validators in the Sui network play a role similar to validators or miners in other blockchain systems and do not have access.
Project prospects
In a July 2022 Q&A session, Alonso de Gortari of Mysten Labs stated that the company is planning a public token sale, with the mainnet and SUI coin launch scheduled for the end of the year.
The recently founded non-profit organization Sui Foundation announced on its portal a grant program for application developers in the Sui ecosystem. Grants in the amount of $10,000-100,000 will be available to teams that create solutions for a wide range of applications - from social networks and games to payment systems, financial and legal services.
The rewards promised by the team for early testnet node owners, as well as a large number of projects in the Sui ecosystem without native tokens, have already caused a stir among retrodrop hunters. However, the chances of ordinary users of the Sui testnet being rewarded are unknown.
Conclusion
Sui is a next-generation smart contract platform focused on throughput, low latency, and unique features such as transaction parallelization and Single Writer Friendly (SWF) applications. Its innovative architecture, Sui Move programming language, and native SUI token make it a promising platform for developers and creators in the rapidly growing web3 space.
