Boris Berezovsky is a businessman, politician and one of the most famous political figures in Russia in the 1990s. His political career was quite short, but unique and memorable for a long time.

Berezovsky began his career in 1991, when he was elected to the National Congress of the Russian Federation, a non-political organization that united the business elite and political leaders of those years. In 1992, Berezovsky joined the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation, becoming one of the most influential businessmen and politicians in the former Soviet Union.

In 1994, Berezovsky was elected to the State Duma of Russia from the Krasnoyarsk territory, where he managed to get 54% of the vote. He was elected chairman of the Committee on Information, Communications and Television, and also became one of the initiators of the creation of the party "Choice of Russia".

In 1996, Berezovsky devoted all his efforts to supporting Boris Yeltsin in the presidential elections of Russia this year. He considered Yeltsin the only leader capable of coping with the crisis that reigned in Russia in those years. As a result, Berezovsky played a key role in Boris Yeltsin's presidential campaign and is one of the initiators of the television campaign that helped Yeltsin get re-elected for a second term.

However, after Yeltsin's re-election in 1996, Berezovsky gradually lost his dominance in the political landscape of Russia. He failed to create a national democratic bloc that would cover all regions of the country and could compete with United Russia. Berezovsky gave up his business assets and left Russia after a conflict with President Putin in 2000.

In general, Boris Berezovsky's political career was large-scale, but short. Despite his successes, his fate raised many questions and its tragic ending when he was found murdered in his residence
