Crypto exchange Bybit CEO Ben Zhou said that Bybit is looking for ways to stay in the UK, although UK financial marketing rules that will take effect next month have prompted some companies to cut service operations. He said in a Telegram message: “Leaving the UK is not part of our current strategy. Bybit has been in discussions with regulators to determine the best path forward. There are still several ways for cryptocurrency exchanges to meet the requirements of UK regulators in the future. , we are actively exploring all options in this market. We are forming partnerships and consultations with local businesses and assessing potential collaborations with UK entities, which will allow us to continue to operate in full compliance."
As previously reported by The Block, Ben Zhou said that once the new regulations take effect, Bybit may withdraw from the UK if it has no choice. New UK financial marketing rules will apply to crypto companies on October 8. The regulations require any firm that contacts UK customers to be registered or authorized by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Companies can apply for an additional three months to implement the regulations. The change has prompted companies including Luno and PayPal to cease certain crypto operations.
