Why Product DAO Exist:
It’s not news that the best tech talent is flocking from big tech into web3. There are projects sprouting up everywhere, every day. A software engineer is just a few clicks away from contributing to a protocol or DAO or project of their choosing.
However, the story isn’t quite as clean for product managers. PMs have become increasingly important in modern tech organizations, and for good reason. They bring the ‘voice of the customer’ to the table, identify what a product or feature should do, and rally a team to turn that vision into a reality. Given the continuing (although improving) issues many web3 projects have with usability and ‘crossing the chasm to mass adoption, PMs are going to be a vital part of the future of web3.
But as a ‘web2 PM’, it’s not necessarily easy to jump in. Fundamental questions that we see come up on Twitter and Discord are:
How do I take my web2 product skills and apply them to build products in web3?
I want to transition into web3 but I am overwhelmed by the amount of information and content in Web3, how can I get the opportunity to learn?
What constitutes great products in web3 and how can I join a community to build a product that solves a need and deliver value in web3?
These questions are what motivated us to create Product DAO. We believe there needs to be an innovative way to give talents the opportunity to join a community, learn and earn - all while building great products.
Product DAO creates the bridge for product people to move from Web2 to Web3 through building products. We build communities around learning, earning, and investing (in tokens and crypto) through product bounties.

We aim to create a diverse and global community of people passionate about collaborating, building, and creating opportunities for product people to build, learn, and invest in web3 product innovations.
We organize ourselves by working on product bounties that enable members to:
Build and Learn: We prioritize learning by doing. Hence, you get the opportunity to prove your existing product skills and acquire new ones by working on bounties.
Earn and Invest: When you work on these bounties, you get to earn skill-based NFT, that serves as a credential and proof of your product skills. As a member of Product DAO, you also get the opportunity to earn tokens and invest in products that are created through the bounty process.
Contribute and Share: We will organize ourselves as a community that fosters diversity and inclusion. We want members that operate with a strong ethos of sharing and productive collaboration.

Bounties:
Product DAO bounties are not structured as a typical bounty. We focus on incentivizing people to contribute their skills to build real products.
Our process starts with identifying an unmet product need. We look at existing product bounties, we have conversations with protocols, investors, and experts in Web 3 to arrive at some validated product ideas.
We then develop a product development lifecycle in the form of bounties for these product ideas.
We incentive people to work on these bounties to earn skills, tokens, and NFT. Completion of bounties earns them skill-based NFT that contributes to their Web3 credentials (a form of decentralized product certification).
Product bounties progress through the product lifecycle until an actual product is developed. Our desired outcomes are to spin out 10 - 20 products each year through Product DAO.
Select products, where Product DAO has taken a strategic ownership position will remain in Product DAO’s marketplace “Productverse”, where members will have the opportunity to continue to contribute and invest to scale these products.
The Tenet for Products that will be developed in the bounties are:
We will work on products that solve unique needs that have been validated by talking to users and/or experts in the domain area
We will harness web3’s unique capabilities to better serve customers
We will focus obsessively on customer experience (security, privacy, ease of use, universally accessible, interoperability, e.t.c.)
We will focus on building products that are innovative and that create value to our community (users, contributors, investors, organization)
We will champion products that foster decentralized ownership and opportunities for people globally
Our Ambition and How to Join:
We think this opportunity is a total no-brainer. And so, while we’re just getting started, we wanted to set big goals for 2022. We think these are ambitious but well in range.
