It’s been a minute since I’ve come here to write about building PRST and it wasn’t for lack of good reason. In the last month and a half I’ve focused my energy on the PRST podcast channel, creating a financial “coaching” membership (to be announced in January 2023), and hosting the very first PRST Collective. The Collective was a massive success. The beta group consisted of three individuals each looking to further explore a creative interest in their lives. I joked with the group that part o...

Somewhere between Jay Shetty and Ramit Sethi
Jay Shetty is a former monk who left the monk path and took what he learned to inspire others to practice mindfulness, find purpose and meaning in their lives, and develop a Monk Mindset. His book, Think Like A Monk, was instrumental in me pursuing to build PRST into a bigger brand and strengthened my understanding of mindfulness, the practice of meditation, and pushed me further a long my spiritual journey. Ramit Sethi has been helping individuals understand and manage their personal finance...

Why Start A Blog On Mirror.xyz?
When I was building out my vision for PRST’s content strategy I decided against doing a traditional blog. With The Weekly PRST, our email newsletter, the three podcast shows, and our YouTube channel I felt like a blog would have been overkill. But, then I read how Bobby Hundreds was blogging on-chain and it inspired me to give a blog a second thought. I’ll never claim to be the originator of all of my content--I often get inspiration from those I look up to and then determine how I can do it ...

I have to be honest…lately I’ve been too anxious for PRST to grow into the brand and company it will be in the future, which has led me to thinking too much about the future.
I just finished reading This Is Not A T-Shirt by Bobby Hundreds . The story of The Hundreds and the community they built has me inspired and excited to replicate their success with PRST. I also just got back from a conference in Las Vegas where I shared the PRST’s purpose and vision and received tons of encouragement from both trusted and new friends. It’s all right in front of me--I can see what the future holds for PRST and the impact we’ll have and I just can’t wait to see it all unfold.
But I have to be patient and appreciate the journey.
Thinking about the future is not necessarily a bad thing. You can’t plan for the future without giving it some consideration. You can’t manifest your future without allowing your subconscious to go to your future self. But, wanting the future, in my case a mature PRST, to BE sooner than it is supposed to cheapens the process.
By shifting my creative focus to what I think will grow PRST the fastest I am cheating myself out of fully enjoying the process. Instead of overthinking, I should just be creating; there is an authentic story that needs be told and not interfered with. Thankfully, I’m now aware my flawed thinking (thanks to my ego) is getting in the way. I can get back to creating just to create, allow whatever is in my heart and soul at the moment enter the world on paper, Mirror, podcast, or video, and enjoying the process.
And good things will happen.
By staying authentic with my message and how is is shared, PRST will become what it is supposed to BE, want I want it to BE, and it will do so when it is supposed to. Instead of worrying about growing the audience and ultimately the community, which I can’t really control I should focus most of my efforts on creating for enjoyment and allocate a little effort toward content distribution to allow the content to be discovered.
I recently read somewhere (it’s driving me crazy that I can’t find the exact quote) how we should create purely for the enjoyment of creating. I also started reading The Power of Now last night and although I’m only through the first chapter, I can’t help but see the connection between enjoying the process of creating and being in the moment--the two go together and are a recipe for greatness.
Whatever passion you are pursuing, be sure to enjoy the process, stay in the present, and don’t become fixated on the future.
I’ll leave you with this powerful quote from Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now, bolded sections my emphasis:
“To the ego, the present moment hardly exists. Only past and future are considered important. The total reversal of the truth accounts for the fact that in the ego mode the mind is so dysfunctional. It is always concerned with keeping that past alive because without it--who are you? It constantly projects itself into the future to ensure its continued survival and to seek some kind of release or fulfillment there. It says “One day, when this, that or the other happens, I am going to be okay, happy, at peace.” Even when the ego seems to be concerned with the present, it is not the present that it sees: It misperceives it completely because it looks at it through the eye of the past. Or it reduces the present to a means to to an end, an end always lies in the mind-projected future. ”
Keep Pursuing,
