Latin America is experiencing a brilliant moment in crypto that I like to call "conscious building." We have long shared the vision of empowering, motivating, and showcasing what a few of us within communities are creating, as one, but this time it feels different.
August was a remarkable month for Latin America, with Infinite Garden-centered events like Ethereum Bolivia, Ethereum Argentina, and Ethereum Uruguay taking place.
For Push Protocol and Push DAO, our efforts centered on Ethereum Uruguay.
The idea of sponsoring a buildathon excited us from the start.
Contrary to the typical 48-hour hackathons filled with stress, resulting in only a few projects that make it out and into true production, buildathons center on deeper mentorship and support at every stage, from ideation onward.
As a paradigm, they’re more nascent than hackathons but they’re becoming more popular by the year.
Below is a recap of our experience at ETH Uruguay’s buildathon last month.
As the infinite garden continues to grow, and with it, more layer-2 solutions emerge, streamlining the UX of everything we’re building becomes increasingly important.
We spoke with builders at Ethereum Uruguay about the frictions faced by an average user transitioning from Web2 to Web3, eager to buy crypto. Some of these challenges include:
Choosing a wallet
Understanding what a seed phrase is
Knowing where to store the seed phrase
Understanding what a decentralized exchange is
Deciding which token to buy
Understanding gas fees
Navigating multiple networks
Until a few months ago, it wasn't possible to interact with decentralized applications without an externally owned account (EOA). Now, with the ERC-4337 standard, account abstraction has unlocked the true power of smart contract wallets on the Ethereum blockchain.
While on the ground at Ethereum Uruguay, we discussed the advantages of account abstraction with builders and heard the following answers, again and again:
The elimination of the need for a seed phrase
The enhanced security by reducing potential human error
The improvements to shared accounts and multi-user operations
A new paradigm is emerging in crypto asset management that aims to align the interests of founders with the personalized needs of users, which in turn drives mass adoption in Web3.
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to scale, it serves as a great tool for builders who want to create decentralized applications. For this reason, AI was also on the agenda at our workshop at ETH Uruguay.
We spoke about how AI can already generate entirely new data, such as images or videos and we focused on relevant areas like text or code processing and analysis, which can accelerate the creative process for builders and assist in tasks such as:
Code debugging
Predicting user patterns
Pre-auditing code
The possibilities with AI are endless, however, we can't fully trust what it creates. Our recommendation for developers was and is to use it wisely without becoming overly reliant on AI's capabilities.
At Push Protocol, you can already utilize AI for real-time decision-making, personalized user experiences, and even AI-powered chatbots.
An example of what the integration of AI with Push Protocol can achieve is using a moderation bot in a public Push Chat for customer service. This bot could analyze messages in real-time, detecting spam, improving the overall user experience, while also ensuring the privacy of user data is maintained, and boosting user engagement. You can create an automated support bot and an AI chatbot for your project, using our tech, now by reviewing our documentation.
Ethereum Uruguay wrapped up with new implementations on Push Protocol, as well as projects that earned entry into our Push Grants Program v3: ChatterPay and ConConfianza.
We support and encourage all builders who want to build with our technology to present their ideas in our forum, where they can connect with our DAO Council for guidance on a successful path to development.
Our mission doesn't end with the event—we've connected with individuals interested in our ambassador program and in the open positions publicly posted in our forum, and we're continuously onboarding new contributors into our DAO.
We witnessed the growth of the Infinite Garden in Latin America in 2024 with Ethereum Uruguay, and we will continue to be part of it.
